Under observation my tiny table light ..
a china toy , weighs very less,

consumed 110/- taken from a electric shop, not footpath .

Few tasks it has to handle,

Laptop light , Table lamp for all DIY needs and reading,
handy light also on power cuts, finally a torch.

There is nothing new china is making multi tasking lights all the time..

What is special here is it is a torch with a flip 6ultrabright LED panel. The panel tilts at 15degrees , so you can point the LED sets all directions... that is too much the price of 1 cup coffee in some places :).Panel can be hidden when used as torch.

I expect is to run 6Hrs atleast .. already running 1.5 hr with the charge while bought.. pics here :

i will update the time ..

Update :

Today test for final conclusion : fully charged for 12Hrs ..
Letz see backup time.

Very useful gaget for the price paid. even if it works for 4-5 months that should be fine. Have got few LED torch and is working till date.

Nice one Kaushik, let us know how you go. I have a thing for torches.

These LEDs torches really last long. I have a Maglite-LED and an andslite. The andslite is a little over 3 years old and is still running on its first set of duracells. The light is not as bright as when I first bought it. I tried a battery change and it glows up really bright. But, I am just pushing it to see how long it will last.

Light gave 7Hrs with 6 led panel on :)!

As a torch it will need charge only 2twice in a month.

dvdmk,
true 6 month is cool, but the hardware will not die, if battery dies ,i know some very good battery,a replacement will make it last 2yrs+.

As u know that is a half hour task for me.

santosh

how much u paid for Maglite? Here it is 1k+ with bill, lasts long...it is a standard torch all world over. Kwality branded LEDs (very reliable) have landed in SP road.

For smd work etc the panel of 6 LEd panel in my torch is awesome.

Caution: China LEDs in cheap torches may die in 1 year.keep that in mind any one who is buying.

BriteLite is one of the best among the LED high beam torches and i think they are the one who introduced the LED based torches (at least in middle east).

Fantastic results Kaushik. Please let me know where I can pick up one of these.

santosh,

Mine takes 4(or is it 3?) D sized batteries and I paid around 70 Aussie dollars (around Rs.2500). This is the largest that Maglite makes using LED. I bought an Original belt hanger for accessory for it as well. Although it is a good price relatively, it is best bought from US.

For 1k with bill, I think it must be the Maglite Solitaire or the 2 AA cell pen torch. Definitely not LED. BTW, I have the solitaire as well and what a little beauty is it.

Friend has the non-LED one and it is fantastic. I like the Maglites because they are built like a batton and can also be used for self-defence if the need arises.

Santosh ,

I picked one from a nearby store in kalyan ngr. I will
visit your place , together we well grab one.
Until your son touches it will be great companion.

Mr.light is not just a torch...
It is a more valuable tool for me, as i am going to do a
major SMD work .

Candlepower I used to visit..full of DIY
for me if one light is doing well i will not venture into.

Update:

There is a common habit of DIY people if they
find a small reason to try a project they just add it in the
TODO list .

Mr. Light dims 30% after 4 Hrs .I searched for possible fixes
and explored the LED driver circuits. Many use LM317
to make a Constant Current Source ,but there is a more efficient
circuit here :Super-Simple Power MOSFET Linear Current Regulator - CandlePowerForums

This will keep the LED glowing with same intensity even though battery voltage falls .It will replace the resistive
dropper already there.

Seems easy one and essential ;) ..!

hi santhol2,

look at these torches - they are combat torches - i use them on night treks- in combat they are used to seek and blind the combatant - after which you slit his throat with camus knife!

suri
awesome military gear .. looks like cree LED type torches..
Do they have intensity variation and memory.

Santosh, which model of Andslite do you have?
They're a Delhi based company so I can easily pick one up for myself.
Kaushik thats a great flip panel torch you've got!
Whats the brand name?I'll see if I can find one for myself here in delhi.

hi kaushik,

they just have a slap switch for on/off - no variable intensity and no memory - batteries last only for one hour - not practical for daily use at all!

Suri keep that aside,
dont point to my eyes .. when i reach your place
i dunt wanna use glasses till my eyes support me :)
