Dear FMs

I have started to convert an existing bedroom in to a dedicated HT room. I need feedback and opinions from fellow members as to screen and projector placement and direction. I have attached the layout designs and 3D view of the walls.

My Epson HC2040 projector is on its way. I intend to set my room up sometime this month.

My room is almost square in size 13'9" x 13'10" (not really ideal), but i have no other option. I intend to place a manual drop down screen on Wall A, so as the placement of the speakers wont be affected by the door.

Awaiting your valuable suggestions,
TIA

1.Block the windows
2. Can the wardrobes be removed and the whole space used, then use it for your equipment rack.
3. The Wardrobe area (I am guessing) will break the square wall pattern, so maybe ok.
4. Try going for a fixed screen if this is a dedicated room.
5. I think Wall A is ideal with the notch used for storing equipment.
6. Paint walls black or as dark as possible to avoid reflection, same with ceilings.Ideally in matte finish so that they wont reflect.

@sud98
I intend to block the Windows after I am done setting up my equipments. The wardrobe is inbuilt in the wall.. so not losing any space there... And I intend to convert the wardrobe in to my equipment rack

So if I hang the drop down screen, in Wall A, it'll hang down covering the extended area little bit and the speakers will be placed in front of that... Doesn't this make the listening area in square shape? I'm lil lost here...

I'll take care of the paints much later...

You have no other option without breaking few walls. Work with what you have. Do not worry about square shape etc - yes, it may not be perfect, but you should be able to work with it through sub placement.
Pls pay heed to the suggestions given by @sud98. They may be difficult to do after you place equipments. Ex: you'll not want to paint walls later. Dark interiors r most imp.
If you hang screen over the empty space, it is very imp to ensure there is no light in the background whatsoever - it'll be very distracting.
If you can go with electric screen, pls do. It's sort of a pain to pull down a screen. But it's not a deal breaker

Thank you sud98 and sash,
Ill take up your suggestions. I will paint the room for dark interiors before i install anything.
I hv decided on Liberty Manto 120" 16:9 electric screen. I received a quote of 16k + taxes + freight. Is this good?

I have an Denon X2000 avr and Dali Zensor 3 bookshelves as fronts. I am planning on buying a subwoofer. Need suggestions for the same. I hv SVS SB1000 in mind... any other options? or should i go for SB2000? will it be a overkill for my roomsize?

Also, i am considering to place the projector screen on Wall B. I am actually confused, because of that extended space.

Considering that, which do u advice, should i go with wall A or wall B for the screen?

Of those two choices, wall B would be the better choice ONLY if you can put sliding doors in front of the closet to make the side walls symmetric up front.

Even in this day and age of surround sound, the front soundstage remains absolutely critical. That's what you'll be focusing on, whether watching a movie or listening to music. As such, it is important to have left-vs-right symmetry up front, which includes speaker placement AND side wall reflections.

Without the closet door, one side of the soundstage will appear wider than the other side, which will sound noticeably lopsided.

18mm thick will be fine. It's just to keep front soundstage reflections symmetrical.

If you put sliding door on the niche then how will you access the equipment? Isnt it simpler to put the screen on wall A so you dont have to bother about asymmetry.

If I put the screen on wall A, I need to check if the door swing will affect my seating position. But if i put the screen on wall B, i will have to place the equipments on a wooden rack below the screen..

Slide the door open?

Half of wall A is missing. The left speaker will have a wall behind it, the right speaker won't. The asymmetry will be easily heard.
