Will be a bit over kill, but it won't hurt, though...;) any pointers/links where it is available... 2.94 or 3.94?

Here, dealers are selling at 4.63

at 3 lakhs for a speaker package i think there are quite a few better options out there than the klipsch. look at the monitor audio silver series / bronze series. the kef q series is also good. imo a 5.1 will suffice. you will need a good amplifier to match.

another point if youre taking the sub woofer as well, you dont really need floorstanders for the fronts, since the sub will provide more than enough bass

thanks guy for your pointers
sorry 3.94
and afj thanks you make a lot of sense
and also could you point me in the right direction regarding the speakers
i mean what would you suggest fo a room my size and for a 4k projector to go along with it

your room size isnt really huge. esp if youre using it mainly for movies, go for a 5.1 system. bookshelves all around and a good sub. the monitor audio silver series is extremely good and will come well within your budget. spend money on a good amp as well. whats your budget for the amplifier.

With 4k you seem to be gearing up for the future.
Do check out Dolby Atmos.
Otherwise I would suggest 7.1.
Am using 7.1 satellites in a 1713 living room.

wowww guys thanks for the input iam real glad i joined this forum

my budget including the amp is abut 4 l afj i am of the opinion that no amp less than about 70 or 80 can do do much with a real good speaker system
nature lover what is the most economical dolby atmos 67.1 system around
i think i would need thx ultra 2 certified system what do u think

I don't think Dolby Atmos will last very long... upgrade to Auro3D and DTS:X...
67.1! You really don't need that many channels in a small to medium sized room..
also, a very good 5.1 sound system is good enough IMHO ;)

personally my speakers of choice in the price range is the monitor audio silver (second would be kef q series). i would go with the silver 2 bookshelves for the front, either silver 2 or silver one for the rears, and matching silver centre and sub. the nad and the cambridge are very good amps as well, but not really necessary if its mainly for movies and not so much for music. the marantz would be the amp i would go with. atleast 50-60w per channel. second choice would be the yamaha amps. i like them because theyre quite transparent. onkyo is on the brighter side. harman kardon arent so good musically, but give you big sound.

but its up to your ears. keep all data only as a base that you start from. it all comes down to how it sounds to you.

also try as much as possible to listen to the speakers and amp that you choose together. system matching is very important

Thanks afj monitor audio is certainly among first in my list audio people shop guy in hyderabad is my bestie and he is a big monitor audio fan as well
So talking to him has not given me nothing else to go by
Thanks for all the inputs
Ya afj in an idea world amp plus speakers should auditioned together in the room it would be set up
By since my investment is going to be for at least another 7 to 8 years before I upgrade I want the best in my budget now so that it doesn't go out of date too fast

Peraljam Are you joking :D ? ,You cant wait 8 Years to upgrade.

Just throw the assumption that Technology improves the quality, It might not be true always.,The Technology , Just shrinks the Medium and accessibility.

That is the reason still people running running around LP's for $$$ and we could get HTIB for $$.

So what fits your room,What type of source files you have,to play,Your preference ,is the best way to choose the Speakers or AVR\Amp

One other suggestion, especially for HT would be M&K 750/950 series 5.1 which, I feel, is the best for movies and will be around your budget. Am using the 750 series with an Onkyo 727. You can check a demo of the 150 series (top of the line) at Audiopeople, Hyd.

Ya audio freak but just for sake of argument when do you think our audio equipment would need up gradation :-)
Ya I also concede that how things sound to us in our own habitat is what is the most important factor deciding
Thanks kvms
Will check out those speakers too
