Hi friends,

Me From India and planning to take home theatre from US.

Shortlisted ones are Sony, Onkyo,Yamaha and Danon.

BLU-RAY hometheatre 5.1, with USB (media formats supported)..

Budget 20-22K INR

Please suggest , also if i get it from US, will I have any probs with that region it supports or something like that in INdia....I mean will it be usable in India without any hassles..

As there is huge price difference ...

looking for your valuable opinion:)

How will you bring the HT from the US?. You should consider costs like shipping charge, customs duty. And above all, US products operate on 110V. So you will need to invest on a good 110V step down transformer also. Another problem is with the region of Blu-ray players. For US it is 'A'. For india it is 'C'. but luckily most disks released in India are region free. Considering all this it is better to buy from India. You can get Onkyo 3400 for around 25K. Add another 5K for a decent Blu-Ray player. Some sellers have a bundled offer also.

Thnks for your reply..

Actually me getting it from US with one of my friend..he is coming down to India in next month..therefore considering it from there....as i saw a good price difference ....

So onkyo 3400 does it supports the formats from USB...

sorry as I am complete novice in this forum....

SOny or Onkyo I am confused.....As I believe I am getting SOny there at about 17000 Rs there..while Onkyo will cost me around 23 there..this is Ok with me....but I also watch number of movies form USB as well...so was thinking abt it....as I know for sure Sony does support USB formats .....

Thnks again for ur reply

Onkyo 3400 does not support usb. you can play your files from the usb port of the BDP.

Onkyo 3400 has an AVR to which you can connect your BDP, HD DTH, dvd player etc. It has 4 hdmi inputs and it supports Dolby Tru HD and DTS HD audios. In addition it is 3D ready. If you buy an HTIB like sony, you won't be able to connect other devices to it.

yeah that's also true......jst checked the price of Onkyo 3400 In US..its coming out to be 17000...plus a blu ray player of may be 4000......so is it a good deal ......or shud i take it from here which will cost me around 28 including BLU-RAy PLAYER....

sorry for troubling u...but very confused right now......

I am also inclined towards Onkyo.....so jst want some advice.....:p

Hi,

now that I have decided that I am going to buy ONKYO HT S3400....jst needed some advice..

My requirements are : Blu-ray playback...which is the best blu ray player which i should buy to connect my Onkyo Home Theatre....

I also watch lot of movies from USB..so will like to have Blue ray player supporting the populat formats (avi,divx,mp4,mkv.....) via USB....

Thanks for your suggestions in advance:)

Will you be buying Blu-Ray disks? BR disks are very costly. But if you watch only downloaded files then an HD media player is recommended.

yup it ranges from 600 to 1500 for a single blu-ray disk.....will like to have some quality movies on blu-ray...hence wud like to take a blu-ray player with my ONKYO HT S3400......

looking for suggestion's on blu-ray player....

Buy a region free BD player if possible. Onida BDX 1110 is region free. you could also consider buying Region 'A' player. This way you can play bd disks imported from the US. Most of the disks released in India are region free.

booked Onkyo HTS 3400 + Panasonic DMP BDT 110 from amazon....got a good price.....my brother in law will bring it while coming back to India.....

one question : power supply to both the above mentioned products is 120V and 60Hz....while in India its 220 V...so can you tell me the good transformer to choose from...and also in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai where can I get it....

Looking forward to ur views and suggestions:)

Have searched forums, but getting distorted information

I have a query regarding step down transformer (220 V to 110V)...

As per my post I have Onkyo HTS 3400 + Panasonic DMP BDT110...

below are the excerpts from the both the Products specifications..

System (ONKYO HTS 3400)

Channels 5.1
Total System Power 660W
Power (6 ohms, 1kHz, 1%, 1 channel driven, FTC)/Ch 110W/ch x 5
Sub Power 130W (Passive)

Panasonic DMP BDT 110

Audio S/N 100dB
Dynamic Range 100dB
Power Consumption 9.9W (approx)
Weight (lb) (Approx.) 3.52 lbs
in Standby Mode 0.1W
in Quick Start Mode 3.2W

As per above specification's the total power will be 670 W ( 660 W+10 W)....so should i be buying 670*1.5=1005 i.e. 1000 W transformer ....or any other...

can you please suggest a name and something which is not tht pricey...I m looking to buy it from Mumbai/Navi Mumbai...

If anyone knows the dealer for the same will be great...need to get it in 3 days...as i cant wait;)

Looking forward for suggestions...

1KVA stepdown will be enough for you. You can try brands like maxine etc. I have no personal experience with step down transformers.

Thanks Baiju,

The Maxine brand which u suggested its located in Chennai...

I am looking to buy it in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai.....

does anyone know the dealer for the same here......

also I called some dealers in Mumbai..they are saying that they will make a transformer like this by order and sell..

donno why I m not getting any confidence in such dealers.

Looking for your help.......
