Hi Experts,

I have Marantz PM5005 and BA26 speakers. My requirements for DAC is as below:

1: Wanted maximum quality sound from my google chromecast by connecting through Optical to DAC. (Currently it is connected to PM5005 via RCA)
2: Connecting my MacBook Pro/Dell Laptop through DAC to play high-quality music in the near future.
3: headphone amp/dac is a plus ( I can connect it to my HD598)

Considering following options + Query:

1: Audiolab MDac Mini

I can connect it to my amp, right? How volume control on MDac mini will work along with my amp volume control?

2: Chord Mojo:

3: Schiit Modi 2 multibit
Not portable, but if the sound quality is better than the rest, then I will consider this.

4: Schiit Modi 3
Very much affordable, but if it is best for its price, I can consider this as well.

Thank you.

Modi 3 should be good enough as a dekstop dac. See the following links

Thank you for your help

I have an iFi micro dsd black label. It performs in line with a Chord Mojo (many, including me prefer it). It definitely more versatile.

Does anyone have experience with Audiolab MDAC mini and Cambridge Audio DACMAGIC 100? And how these are comparing to Schiit Modi 3?

Let me know, thanks

I have been using Cambridge audio dacmagic 100 for over a year now. It's a great dac with great presentation overall. However, I had compared it with schit Modi uber 2 and multibit side by side. I would place Cambridge audio in following order-
Multibit > Cambridge audio> uber 2.
However, the optical output was better with uber 2.
Cambridge audio dacmagic is great value for money.

This in fact is the best option

I’m also planning to get a dac around 25K to use it with my iPad. Audiolab mdac has good reputation and dac chip from this is used in mdac mini. I’m assuming it should be good. If anyone is having the dac please share your experience.
