Does it have an option to select input voltage to 220 v. If not Don't connect with a converter plug. It will blow up your soundbar . You will need a step down transformer with 1.4 times the rated wattage of the soundbar.

Hi Poppy

Step Up / Down converters are available in the electronic market in south Mumbai, if you have a local Home Theatre dealer close by possibly he could suggest you a good one or either arrange with a good repairer to change the power supply transformer inside...

Google searches will help...

Local electric shop has given me voltage converter STEP DOWN 220V TO 110V. It is written on the box to match US appliances. This wwill do or there is something else needed.?

Pl help .

There are different types of step downs available. The electronic type is cheap, light weight and simply clips the sine wave. However this is only suitable for resistive loads and will burn the electronics in a sound bar.

What you will need is a step down transformer type. Also check the wattage rating of your sound bar and ensure that you buy a step down with at least 1.5 times that rating. Note wattage is different from voltage.

Suggest that you take the sound bar to the shop to get a confirmation from the seller. Alternately please post the sound-bar specs or model and also a photo of the proposed transformer specs plate.

Jagdish_p,
Thanks sir for the prompt reply.I have taken the power plug along with me to Lamington roroad in mumbai the shopkeeper gave me some step down converter. And when I repeatedly ask him whether it will work the owner came from behind and watched the power plug and replied u don't need step down just take the simple socket from corner shop .told me nowadays all new power plug comes universal no need to worry . unnecessary people will give you a converter to make some sale.
I was little worried because before that 3 shopkeeper asked me to buy converter worth some 400 to 500 Rs. But than I trust him and when at home I plug it and startedwith fear I thought i will hear some cracking sound but it started perfectly.
Me and my daughter was so much :clapping: Thanks once again for giving a helpful reply.:)
