need help please !!

hi recently i purchased Sony KDL-40W900A which is an excellent tv but yesterday i downloaded a movie in full hd format and it is not playing via usb so what could be the problem ??
the format of the video file is .mkv
the file is playing on the tv and audio is also coming very nicely but an error message is being displayed saying unsupported content
so what can be the problem guys pls help
