Hi guys, I recently bought Denon 1912 from USA and took it to India. I need exact power ratings so that i will order a step down transformer to made locally in my city. or do you think it is safe to buy some transformer from reputed companies?

Why do you worry about power ratings of the avr? You just need a 220v to 110v step down voltage convertor. It is safe and better to buy it from 'reputed' companies.

Santy, Could you please suggest some reputed step down converter? I am getting an avr from US :)

Power supply is one of the most critical contributors to sonic quality for an amp. As a general practice I don't think it's a great idea to use transformers with amps to save on cheaper prices in the US. It's preferable to buy from the UK or Singapore, in fact most other countries if at all possible

Looks like it is 90w x 7, which is approximately 630+. Go for a 1500-2000 watt stepdown transformer. In case you are in chennail, get it from Shah electronics at ritchie street.

the 1912 power watts range from 110w-230w so it is safe to run it in india or US without and setUP or setDOWN adapter

dont u think he would need a setup adapter and not a setdown
if he reads the power watts behind the amp next to his power plug he will see it is universal
he does not need one
cuz i bought mine from the us and i did not need any tranformers

yes, true, but that is not the case. Please see the specs, it says 120v here.

Power consumption is only 430w, so he can go for a 1000w or 1500w.

It seems your are very lucky to get 110-230V which is very rare and unusal.

I will check mine again and will let you know. I gave it to my parents and came back to US again.

mine shows 110w~230W
picked it up from amazon.com

Dear ChaseFreak,

Please see if it would be possible for you to post a snap of back side of receiver (of power supply input side). Was curious to see the rating, as there is significant difference b/w 'W' and 'V' in terms of power supply.

Regards, Manish.

MY denon got little damaged in tranist, sound nob was pressed inside the receiver when i opend the reciever i thought the circuit attached to reciever was droken but later find that it was designed in that way and that small circlut board which is attached to knob will be connected to rest of the circuit board by some lead connections. The lead connections are like bridges connecting knob circuit to main circut.

ok finally i took some feviquick in injection and applied around the corners of the knob and attached to the front panel. Now every things looks good and it works normal.

In this process i spilled few drops on the front panel which are not going away.

so any one knows how to get rid of them or it is cheap to but only the front panel?

A quick google search shows the following simple solution - 'Use acetone to remove Feviquik or Superglue. A home remedy is nail polish remover'. I haven't tried this, so use it on your own risk.

I tried the following thing tinner, nail polish remover and even i tried to heat the panel with steam fach wash equipement thinking i can wipe out once pannel reach certain hot and feviquick get little liquid state. but none of the options works.

by using tinner and nail polish, color of pannel is getting dull and looks like white area in the place where i placed.

So for now i can leave with that. But if panel price is not too costly i want to change the panel.

Superglue will leave a white residue on glass surface which is hard to remove. I virtually lost a watch this way.
