Hi all... I am a complete newbie to the whole audio world. I have been using my Creative Inspire speakers connected to my TV all this while. I must say I have been pretty happy with the setup. Recently one of my friends purchased the Sony DAV-DZ340K home theater, cost him 15k. After listening to it, my whole perception of music has changed. The sound is amazing, so clear and fluid. Now the Inspire seems to be too feeble and small! I have done my bit of research and have decided to go for an AV receiver setup. I initially wanted to go for one of the HTiBs from Denon/Onkyo, but decided against it after spending some time in this forum. I will settle for the receiver and two front speakers for now. My budget is only 40k, can stretch it to 45k.

Denon 1612/Onkyo TX-SR313
Floor Standing Speakers
Center, SubWoofer, Surround (Not now, will upgrade later)

I want something that would match or exceed:thumbsup: the Sony DAV-DZ340K. Could someone suggest good floor Standing Speakers that would work well with an upgrade later on as mentioned above? I can purchase online or somewhere in Chennai. Thanks.

Get an AVR like Denon 1612 and a pair of bookshelf like from Wharfedale, Polk, Sonodyne etc. This will sound far far better than the Sony. If you are more inclined towards music then a stereo amp + speaker combo is what you should buy instead of AVR. However AVR is recommended if you want to enjoy surround sound movies.

i agree get a good pair of bookshelves.
The PSB Image B5 is really good for the money. Costs around 25K. It should be much better than most floor standing speakers within 40K. Try get a used AVR which can play 4 ohm loads

Thanks all.. I wanted to go for the FS only for the aesthetics! as i said, I have no experience with serious music stuff. I'm looking at the amp + speaker combo that baijuxavior mentioned, something on the lines of DALI Zensor 1 with Norge/Sonodyne. Don't want to spend the entire 40k on this setup now. I will pay a visit to Vipul Audio Tech soon.

FM s_sachin is his selling psb bookshelves which are not even a yr old. I recommend looking at them. Fab speakers and a great way to start your hi-fi.
