Hi Folks,

Need inputs for "klipsch rb 51 II speakers (apologies i mentioned rb 52 by mistake), as Fronts. Any idea how much they cost? Read a couple of good reviews , got an impression that these are one the most neutral sounding speakers.

Any pointers to dealers in Bangalore.

AFAIK, the Klipsch speakers are anything but neutral. So best is to get a demo of them before you buy them.

Cinebels on lavelle road will have them, do go & check them out.

Please demo them. As denom mentioned they are anything but neutral, they are on the bright side since because of their Horn loaded tweeter.

They are however fairly easy to drive due to their high sensitivity

+1 to above two posts.

In fact I find them overly bright due to the horn-loaded tweeter. It makes even drum sound metallic. I heard RF 62 Reference, btw.

yes the hf sounds synthesized. I've heard the 42's 52's , Owned the 62's for around 2 months last year before I sold it off to a party animal. (Suited his genre of music) and extensively auditioned the 82's .

However I would not call them bad speakers .Purely boils down to the listeners tastes as well as music genre.

Hey Flash.. wanted to know what's your opinion about the RF-82s ?? I agree that the RFs are not suited to every ones tastes

Among the 52,62,82...

I liked the 82 the best. very meaty sound and good taut bass and a massive soundstage.

OK..
The story goes like ...'I happen to order a Yamaha Rx-A710' (Without learning much. & Yes I realized I am a neub :( in very early stages ). But I had an opportunity to listen to a pair of Rf-62s with a MArantz amp.. And I fell in love with the sound and the detail. But when I started reading about speakers and AVRs in this forum and some other reviews, was totally taken back by the close to negative reviews for Klipsch audio...

Time passed I was setting my heart on a pair of Monitor Audio Silvers . One fine day by some divine intervention I got an offer for Rf-82s for about 50k .. But now my receiver has not been delivered to me I already lost the deal on the Monitor Audio rx6s :(( (Worth 40k). now I have two options
1. go for the RF-82s on faith after listening to them on any Yamaha Aventage receiver
2. lose this opportunity & wait for another miracle to happen

I have had the pleasure to listen to the RF-82s on a Denon 1912 ..which I must say is heavy on the HFsif vol raised to -20dbs.

This is almost my cry for help here.......... Esp to Flash because you have heard RF-82s and seem to have the liking for a similar kind of audio (lil more HF ).
But every one else is welcome to chip in with any sort of bright idea!!!!

Do not lose the chance to get the RF82's @ 50k, as you might regret it later  BTW are these the RF82 or RF82II??? The RF82II are the latest iteration of the 2, check for differences on the klipsch forum.
As you have already heard the RF82's & liked them, then it makes sense to buy them. As for pairing with Yamaha A710, it should be good as the Aventage series of Yamaha is a pretty mellow sounding one compared to the RX V series, so I have a gut feel that it will pair beautifully with the Klipsch Sound & that the synergy will be good. Plus point is the Klipsch are high on sensitivity (98db) so the 90w/channel of the A-710 should not be an issue at all. What is the size of your room??? The RF82's being big monsters are meant for big rooms, hence asking.

So now either
1) Take the gamble
2) Miss out on yet another good deal (RF-82's @ 50k :licklips:)
3) CRY :p

Choice is yours!

rud3dawg - Sorry for the late response, I kinda missed your thread.

Anyway - f you are getting the RF 82 II for 50k ... why are we even having this conversation . go ahead and buy them

You mentioned you heard the 62's and u fell in love with them . So the 82's are the bigger brothers . ( RF-7 being the biggest of the lot). The 82's will not disappoint. It is way better than the 62 II. as mentioned earlier tremendous amount of bass and a truly massive soundstage.
When i auditioned the 52 / 62/ 82. they were all placed next to each other and I ran through the same songs on each of them. the 82's impressed me to no bounds for sheer impact. the RF 82 II hit some really low chest thumping bass notes with " Bassholics - Bass I love you ".

They will easily fill up your 30x18 room - considering their high sensitivity. they don't need a lot of power to drive them. So if you are considering the Aventage. they will be more than adequate to drive them to ear splitting levels.

If you like the sound signature of Klipsch- go in for it.
Dont think too much about the negative reviews they have received at various forums. Klipsch has refined the Horn tweeter over the years and the Honkiness associated with Horn loaded designs is at a minimum.

Hey Flash,
Yeah I have em in my Living room now :D and btw I even got em @ 40 k :yahoo: I was lucky enough to test em with a Yamaha Rx-A810 and was quite satisfied. in a room with some Carpeting .. Now My room has curtains so the acoustics should match. Now am just waiting for the receiver. prancing around .. :D :ohyeah: my dad woke up this morning and was like .. OK now you are good to go for a job in sound or music industry.. may be a DJ ...:D

It is the earlier version... hope there are not any cons that re listed to it.. based on your experience...... n now they will lie packed in bubble wrap and plastic cover for about 10 days ( Hope that doesnt upset them :( )

I can't stand klipsch's sound signature but I guess different folks, different strokes.

True - I'm not a big fan of Klipsch either.
But then again considering how well the company has been doing over the last 60 odd years.
There seems to be a horde of people who love the BIG Klipsch sound

No cons -

I guess you cant wait to hook them up and give them a go....

@ Flash: Picture a small boy holding it in.. when hes asked to not go pee anywhere untill they reach home!!!! ... similar antsy expressions since morning but very dissimilar discomfort :D

@ corElement & Flash: I was disappointed by Klipsch RF-82 in the first audition... butt when theymoved it as per my request into a room without glass and some carpeting which would feel similar to my Hall I was ecstatic because it was right then I knew I am gona OWN it!! :D
guess the surroundings play .. HUGE part.. not jst a good part..
