One of my friend from Kolkata wants to buy a DAC, His budget is around Rs. 1 Lac. He likes neutral sound with detailing and with body. But the sound should not be bright.

He is also thinking to purchase a tube amp, may be Ayon Orion.

He now uses Bose speakers with Denon amp and Denon CD player. I have suggested him to think to upgrade the speaker first and build the system around that.

Guys, need suggestions for the DAC. Balance items in the chain I can suggest, but I have no idea about DAC. So need your help.

I heartily recommend the Wyred4Sound Dac2. It will cost about 1L shipped to India. a little more for customs etc. Well worth it, I tell ya!

I have not been satisfied by any DAC in the 1L or under price point... until now!

there is an m2tech young with power supply on sale on hfv. I havent heard it. Just an observation for the OP.

Try nad m51. A very good product.Bonus is a top quality digital preamp also. A lot of info is there on the web for you to study. You can get it in ur budget.

On my personal experience, at your budget , go for the audiolab dq8200. Audiolab is a better engineered and designed than the wyred4 dac2. Price wise both are similar.

Dac2 looses on sonic part when compared to audiolab.....

The present dac which I am auditioning is the amr.....priced around 5000usd,
Which I am likely to settle for, will go with my actives.

There are thousands of dac, just that the ears have to settle for 1, rather relying on Internet for answers and confusions.
