Hi Gurus...

First of all, I would like to apologize for posting similar questions over and over again. The reason for this is that I am yet to get an answer that I need. So, I thought it would be better to break-up my queries im segments. Still, if any of you senior members find such posts offending, pls remove it.

I am looking for a mid-range 5.1 set-up for my 11' by 17' living room. I liked JBL Studio One series at local JBL stores, who quoted the packaged price along with HK 144 AVR at 80ks. He did not know the separate price for the 5.1 speakers alone!!'! I have two questions....

1. what is a good price for this 5.1 package without AVR?

2. which should be a good choice for an AVR? Is Onkyo TX SR 508 a good match?

I really want the seniors to pour in, as I hardly found any mention of JBL in the numorous threads I read.

First of all let us know which city are u based in and where did u audition JBL speakers????Secondly I guess u have auditioned AVR142 which is available in India at 25,000.

1.i'm from Rajkot, Gujarat and auditioned the setup at JBL store frenchice: Telestar Services on Yagnik Road.

2.ya, you are right about the avr. i might have mis-typed the no.

can you help any more??? i really need to know what is a good price for the 5.1 speakers without avr so i can negotiate

13000 or 12000 Check amy old postings ,it was in Hypercity Vashi

is that the price of the whole 5.1 speaker package [only 2 towers + 2 surrounds + center + sub without AVR]??? :licklips:

i was quoted 80ks for the package with AVR

BTW, yesterday I got a call from the sales guy and he agreed at 51ks for the speakers with cables... i said i have think more, as the same is available in less

Suggest you audition JBL "Control Now" with Harmon Kardon AVR 360 for HT. I am buying this combo for my HT needs after considerable auditioning several speakers & AVR's. These give good VFM. I seperately use good old Nakiamichi Amp with Bose accoustamass 5 for pure hi-fi in a different room. However the JBL + Harmon Kardon AVR is not only a good HT but can also be used for Hi-Fi. I get about 70% satisfaction for audio (compared to Nakamichi + Bose)
Check out the JBL Now + Harmon Kardon combo.

Going by another thread recently started by OP,He is settling for Onkyo 8555+Paradigms. So i think this thread is irrelevant now.

yep...jaudere is right

sorry... didn't check this thread till this time recently. should i have informed the mods regarding closure of this as well as other threads of mine where i would have discussed 5.1 setups or BDps?

BTW, what is OP? i understand its used for the thread owner / the person who started the thread. but, what exactly do the letters stand for?

I had suggested a similar set-up to someone else here earlier ....

You may settle for either a HK133 or HK142 and match it with 4 nos. JBL Control 1 speakers (2 fronts + 2 rears), JBL Control Now as the centre speaker. Depending upon your taste, you may procure a sub .... either JBL or Velodyne or Wharfedale ... at a later date.

The 4 nos. Control 1 would cost you @ 15K, while the Control Now would be < 10K. The Control 1 s are wall mountable .... more towards a satellite set-up.
