Needs suggestions on receiver

i have just got a new house so getting the whole set up done from scratch .
need avr + speakers +sub
my usage will be 60% movies +25% music +15% gaming
room size about 18 ft by 12 ft
im interested in floor standing speakers
i was earlier looking at Onkyo 608 or Denon 1911 -both quoted around 40 k about 4 months back when i started doing the interiors
id loved the sound of the 608
also considered Pioneer 1020 but then dropped it

however now with the launch of Onkyo 609 & Pioneer 1021 i'm confused
the networking features + ipad/iphone support have got me veering towards the 1021
1-what would you recommend ,
2- any idea of pricing in MUmbai ?
3-i read on the site about getting from the US as much cheaper ,what are the available options?
i have an aramex account thru which i buy smaller things .
but the weight of this +duty will add about -250$ i think

suggestions ?


i have also to decide between a SOny EX720 55" and a Sammy ,but thats another thread i guess

If you can hold on till June, there is a new Denon 2112 with Networking and Audyssey MultEqXT - should retail around 500. Onkyo 609 only has Audyssey 2Eq.

With your movie usage, Onkyo might be more suitable.

i see u have the 609 ,hows it ?
i cant wait till June as everything else is coming now
the 609 i cant find in bombay so im planning to get online +aramex
any issues expected in that?
il also have to get the isolation type step down, wheres it available in bombay?

also my budget for 5 speakers + sub is around 60k.
il go 7.1 later
what would you'll recommend
i've only auditioned Jamo S606 till now.
how does wharfedale diamond compare against the Obsidian

thats what i was planning to do initially
but since the newer models have come or are coming ,im more inclined to get the latest as those networking features are something that i want very much

Onkyo 609 is out whereas Pioneer 1021,Denon 1912 and 2112 will take some time
If im getting something this year i might as well attempt to get latest model ,that was my thought .
with ref to Future proofing in terms of the sound specs there arent any major differences though i feel

though if it doesnt work out thats what ill do i suppose
any other recos for speakers?

ordered the 609

any thoughts on the speakers .
i will be auditioning this whole week
i know The shop ,Viola ,where else in suburbs can i look at them
what brands ?

could i audition the speakers with Onkyo 608 at shops and then buy before the 609 is here.
sound signatures will be same ?
