Welcome to Hifi Vision,

I liked the mannequin idea very much. Makes for a wonderful headphone stand.

Set up looks clean with no cluttering at all (The advantage of being a music fan!).

Vinod

Very nice room! Almost Nordic in it's simplicity.
A word of caution on the mannequin though- it's not recommended for long periods of time..it loosens the spring mechanism of headphones.

Indeed a very nice and creative setup.

Initially I'm sure the mannequin would have spooked you a few nights :)

Cheers and looking forward to more posts...

Thanks for the nice words

One thing may make you all smile i have done.

I went to my DIY store they Stop selling Kiln sand for the speaker stands

so I looked else where still with no joy

What i did in the end

I went into my local supermarket and bought a bag of store label cat litter

One bag filled both the stands right up. There certainly heavy .

i have changed the room slightly only ascetically. In the non food section of my local supermarket i spotted some inside door mats. silly money lose change 99 pence or cents where ever you live each. and what i done. is. Folded the mats in half and put the speaker cable between the two half's if you get what i mean so you can safely walk over the cable

I have some weird echos in the room in one corner which really messed up my listening. i played hell with my ears and soundstage. So i hung a picture low down in the corner as a baffle and put a peddle Bin in the corner behind the speaker (hence my mat idea ) Seems to have improved my soundstage no end

I have no complains about the Roksan in fact i was trying to tell a friend about an oddity with it that I love. Forgive me the best way i can explain this when i listen to early Beatles "A hard days night" album on John Lennons Vocals like "Girl" the syllables on the end of his words seem emphasised like i never heard before. Its amazing. I hope someone understands what i am trying to Say.

I have a lot a lot of years behind me and not many left in front and have had a lot of Systems mainly bottom end of the budget .. I never owned sound system as good as this.

Also on Miles Davis "kind of Blue" the amount of times i have listen to this album and enjoyed it. Never noticed the tiny detail before like Paul Chambers picking up the bow on the end of blue in Green . Till i bought the Rocksan . Made me re- listen to a lot of My music collection.

I have a bedside amp a Nad C320 which is a stunning amp for detail as well. Through the Grado Headphones . via a Pioneer CD509 cd writer Which if it was not for the noisy clunky Tray would have been my main Disc spinner has a highly recommended sound and of course has optical and coaxial digital inputs and outputs i guess theoretically could be used as a Dac in its own right .

Been moving things yet again: Bought a very slow laptop with a smallish processor kept it bare. Nothing really in it except XP Windows windows security and infranview. The reason is we found. what not made clear to uninitiated about the computer. Its ok having huge hard drives huge duel core processors and a Computer that runs the speed of a Ferrari. But to do this Its going to need a bigger Fan . The noise of fan that The problem if you like your music. This tiny Dell great for music use, it sits almost silent. There is little noise. We use external hard drives. We have around 3,000 albums which over the years We have bought and painstakingly put them all on to hard drive Took me a long time.

We use media player to play albums quite a lot but we prefer the CD sound . But wanted to incorparated the laptop into the system and still be able to use it. Run the Lap top into a Cambridge Dacmagic.

Ran the Dell successfully into the Panasonic TV through the VGA input. For Two weeks it was fantastic. Then for no reason no fiddling from me. This function stopped. Tried the Dell through our other Panasonic VGA.. works fine plug and play. would be interested to read from others, if this has only happen to us.

This is how it looks

As i said before The Dell Silver lap top is a useless slow computer , Low of resources and everything else. But because it has no huge processors. It dose not need a big Fan to cool it. It makes hardly a whisper.

I have a Cambridge Dac-magic plugged into it to my Roksan k2 amp

i use The dell to play music to make Cd's works very well.

Tip :If you ever have a can not find the remote control moment and need to touch your equipment: Always use your knuckle to switch on switches. i have to open the Roksan cd draw manually so I always use this Technique You Do not get greasy residue round the switches then. Its a good Thing to remember if like me your always cleaning round the house. Turn your light switches on and any appliances using the same method. Nothing worse than greasy marks round light switches.

If you do have them. Use WD40 to clean your units Black units The front eliminated panel and casing come up Top Notch. Worth remembering if your going to sell. If you have any tiny marks you can not get rid of. That you think might put a customer of a sale. Remember Indelible black marker to touch up those Tiny specs.

My pictures by the way I use them as sound baffles. i try and put them around the room to stop echo's in the room.

Thanks Dexxas and a warm welcome to you. Your move with the cat litter was really hilarious, not sure anyone in the world of hi-fi would have ever tried that. I have heard stories from my father about how, back in the day (late 1950s and early 1960s), some small scale cinemas in rural Tamil Nadu, India used a combination of dried cow dung and coir (and sometimes, dried elephant dung) for dampening horn speakers. These are definitely stories for the ages. Being a government engineer, he used to travel extensively and also maintained an interest in cinema projection and sound systems (which later on translated into an interest in mono hi-fi)

That mannequin head idea is simply brilliant. On another note, I find your note on moving equipment around, very interesting. Receintly I moved into my new house which has a room dedicated for hi-fi. The room structure was designed by my wife to be also used as a family area and hence has some odd open corners. Moving things around to find the best spot myself.

Thanks for the welcome:

Its funny physiologically its the two words "Cat Litter" we have a problem with That makes us go What ! All it is is Black kiln sand and gravel in this bag anyway in others i see its wood Chipping's

I think its ideal.

I put it in the speaker stand stanchions one bag filled both stanchion..

They feel very heavy. Have minuscule amount of Blue-Tac rolled into balls in each corner of the speaker bases The Monitor Audio silver S1, sit on . There good and sturdy And

They sound fantastic:

Good observation. I guess that it is made of thermacol. If it is so, may be you can think of carving recesses by gorging out material from the mannequin for the headphones to sit into.
