Nice haul of LPs and EPs

Met with my friends the other day, did not know that he was an erstwhile collector of LPs and other records. Got to talking about my hobby and the resurgence of vinyl as music source.
He surprised me by sending 6 boxes filled with LPs and EPs. See pics.

Each box contained a set of LPs and EPs. I opened the first one marked karnatic music and this is what I found

There were 12 EPs also in that box. That whetted my appetite. Will open the other boxes and put up pics soon!

The second box that I opened today yielded the following records. Am in the process of cleaning a couple and listening to them, on a lazy Saturday. 4 more boxes of LPs still to unpack and a whole lot of EPs as well.

I have heard some of them, The Carpenters, The Ventures and the like. The others, well, it's a whole new ball game.

Introduced to me by my dad; probably Bill Haley among others was founding father of Rock and Roll. Some nice shall I say swinging rock and roll music. Glimpses of such music can be found in very early black and white Hindi Movies. Enjoy the vinyls.

Nice haul and an even better friend.

I recently dug up an old gramophone (might even call it phonograph) and over 50 LPs from the attic... so I know the feeling.

Moving on to box number 3 containing Hindi film hits and bhajans.

This box also contained 10 EPs, will post that later. The next box scheduled to be opened contains English Jazz and other hits.

The contents of the 4th box marked English LPs - Jazz and Fusion, were a revelation. Some excellent titles as you will see in the pics below. I settled on the Santana Album, to begin with, it was a peach.

Still 2 boxes to go. The next one will be Hindustani Classical.

The 5th box containing Hindustani Classical music, had the foll LPs.
A couple of jugalbandhis there, and I chose to start off with the Lalgudi- Amjad Ali Khan one, just superb!

That leaves the final box with Marathi folk and dance music, to be opened tomorrow. Been a great journey. New music, some of these are, for me at least, great sounding, on vinyl!
