Thought of setting up Plex Server to play media files, especially 720P & 1080P contents as up-scaling ability of
Shield is very good.In the process, found uploading of files in plex server and updating the files time to time are
cumbersome, hence explored the possibility of playing media files from external storage (Seagate 2 TB HDD)
and found a solution from youtube vidoe

Format the HDD in "NTFS" format through PC and upload the media files

Connect the HDD to Shield on USB port : 2 (next to HDMI port)

Install file explorer apps like ES file explorer or FX file explorer

Open the HDD contents via above file explorer apps and play the same through media player services like
MX,VLC etc.,Able to play Video,Audio & image files.

Found above method of playing medial files is much easier than plex server method.

It might be worth setting up separate folders (genre, language etc) and set up plex once. If you add any content in a physical folder which is already tagged in plex, plex will auto update the titles etc (metadata), assuming the folder names follow the nomenclature. The UI and and the features (subtitles etc) will be missed if you invoke from explorer. End of the day, whatever rocks your boat should be good enough ...
