Nvidia Shield Tv- Owners Thread!!

@Love4sound follow this step.

While inside Kodi, and in movies section,

1. Click enter files section
2. Click files
3. Click add videos (sometimes step 2 above is not required).
4. Click browse and go to your desired path under your connected hdd. Your hdd should be listed under external storage.
5. Press ok
6. You may give a suitable name. Kodi will default to folder name.
7. Press ok
8. You should be presented with a settings screen. Select the option that the directory contains movies and change other settings as per preference. I only change to get imbd rating.
9. Press ok.
10. You should start the movies section getting filled with movie catalogues.
11. You can reapeat above steps to add multiple folders.
12. You can follow same steps for music and tv shows. Only ensure you select content as tv shows or music in step 8 above.
13. Lastly, ensure that in Kodi main setting (cog wheel in upper left screen), under media settings, the update media library option during startup is enabled for all videos, music and tv shows.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I tried this method but when I click browse and try to create a library it does not show the HD. But I am able to browse the HD and watch the contents from the HD. I will go home after work and share clear picture

Attaching my screens for reference(select 'Set Content' from the menu shown), took them today morning. From my experience, connected HDDs are not shown in the add files section. I have used Kodi from Linux, Windows and now Android(Shield), with linux I was able to always mount the HDD and it would show under files section, not in Android or Linux.

Sometimes, it is difficult to access external HDD from Kodi in shield. If you are not getting to see the external HDD when browsing, try the following.

1. Click Root filesystem after clicking browse (step 4 in above post) and see if the hdd is listed there. It will be listed as a strange name with text and numbers.

3. If above dosent work, click add network location in step 4 and then click browse and then click the two dots ".." at top. You should find your hdd listed here. While your hdd is highlighted, take note of its path below, which should be something like /storage/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Take note of this. Write it down in a piece of paper. It is case sensitive so go easy and note it down correctly.

4. Then go back and click add videos again. Where it is written as <none>, click there and type the path you noted down above /storage/xxxxxxxxxx. You can give your name for easy identification and then select ok. This should take you to step 8 in my above post.

Thanks all I was able to add the movies to library. I went to video column and there the HD was listed. Another FM who I know personally guided me with a very good skin which met my requirements

I am not able to chromecast anything from my mobile to shield. I had success once when I set up the shield and it never worked after. I tried from my wife's mobile as well. Does anyone have similar issue? Any solutions?

I tried this as shield doesn't have native amzon music, installing from aptiode store didn't help as well. Later I tried to chromecast from YouTube from my mobile, which failed as well.

Recheck your mobile is on same network (and not on data connection)

Are you able to see your shield as an option for casting or do you don't get anything.?

I have never faced any issue with Chromecast.

Also try restarting your router.

Yes I have verified the wifi connection on my mobile. Just to be sure I tried on another mobile as well.
Yes it shows shield when I press cast icon. And when I select it it shows an error message.

Once I'm back home will try restarting the router and check.

Go to Settings -- Apps --- scroll down till you find chromecast. Clear Cache and clear data and uninstall updates.

Now open play store and install updates for Chromecast.

Received my Nvidia shield TV pro 2019, i have couple of questions

1) Where should i connect my Nvidia shield tv pro to for best audio and video experience ? The TV directly or my Denon x1600h avr ( the reason im asking this is i had to manually select 4k 29hz dolby vision and HDR10+ and it didnt pick it automatically )
2) How do i install tidal app for nvidia shield as it isnt showing up in indian playstore ? i can find apk for mobile but not nvidia shield.
