onkyo 608 better than Denon 1910?

Onkyo 608 costs 48k in bangalore and how do u rate it when compared to denon

Sir,
My choice is for Denon 1910. It is award winner and had great reviews. I had also auditioned it. Clean, clear and perfect on all channels. No distortion .It misses nothing . Play it on a B.D.Player to unearth its total performance.
I dont think Onkyo 608 out beats 1910 . May be having one or two additional features to that of 606 and 607.

Regards

Thanks krishna, but Denon 1910 does not have THX certification, so u mean THX is not a benchmark, we should not trust THX??

Sir,
I may be not a right person to comment on it. Learned members of the forum can only advise you about it .
In general not all pieces of a model are not certified on through examination . Only one piece will be given for that and if that AVR meets all specification THX certificate will be issued . We cannot be guarenteed that AVRs of same model are produced with the same standard. There is a thinking that THX certified AVRs should be matched with THX certified speakers for good SQ.

Santosh4 - I find your response to SP.Krishna quite amusing! "We should not trust THX??" C'mon man, don't suspect the integrity of THX!!

You wanted a feedback and I guess SPK has given you his honest experience of the Denon's sound signature. Features are something you can always lookup and compare but sound is something you will have to experience and is for real.

Each of these mfrs (Denon/Onkyo/Yamaha/HK/Marantz etc) engineer their machines for their unique sound signature (and video performance) and caters to different tastes of individuals. The fact that so many companies thrive in this space is proof enough that individuals have different tastes.

That being said, though my personal preference would be a Denon precisely for the same reason as quoted by SPK (clarity and detail), at the end of the day you have to listen to these equipments back to back with the same input and spkrs and make your call based on which one you liked the best.

Unfortunately, we should suspect the integrity of THX - especially after the Lexicon debacle. :p
