Hi Friends,

After reading lot of positive reviews on Onkyo S3400 HTIB and even Denon 1312XP, I have planned to take on S3400 thinking it falls in my budget range of below 25k. I am just looking for my first HTiB and have no plans to upgrade in future. An entry level system would perfectly fit my requirements. However, my problem started when I made calls to dealers before my purchase where the price being quoted is 28,000 rs (after discount it seems). No one is willing to budge from that price. Now I am not sure if the S3400 is worth the extra 3k. (By the way the rise in price is due to tax increase from this January). I am not sure about current price of Denon 1312XP and perhaps both are now in the same bracket.

I am based in Bangalore and looking to purchase a good system at the earliest. Please advice.

Hello Vivekcm,

One thing you have understand about electronics and you cannot fix with anything upto 2or may be 3 years. Pls dont waste your precious time in searching for the best one "Every best one has a mother of inventions". So just go what is good for your ears don't think for the best ones in which it will not come to your budget. Build your own HTPC get familiar with that develop things in that.

Uhh what?? I don't wanna sound rude but I didnt get much from that post of yours. Moreover what has an HTPC got to do with what the OP wanted?

@vivekecm: search around, read prior questions and reviews on this forum and elsewhere but whatever you do -dont rush in. 28k for the 3400 is not justified because you can get much better experience if you enter the 40-50k range.

My dear Friend Mr.May,

Have you seen his post pls go through the post once again his budget is only 25K and he cant even increase upto 28k. I think with all your experience you should suggest at this price or else give some alternative. Instead of just giving just figure 40k-50k doesn't meant a solution from my point of view.

Thanks for understanding.

Can you confirm once they have raised the price nowadays in chennai it is around it is 30k that is also because of old stock.

Raghu in budget of 25 k , how it is possible to have 5.1 HTPC + Amplificiation + 501 speakers? Will you please give us BOM?

For your information please read his Signature itself tells that he already having HTPC. Dont you think he can't get a 5.1 speakers with amplification or still you need a BOM?

BOM will be replied on basis of your reply

You can look for Onkyo s3300. Similar to s3400 but former has 1 less HDMI port. You can get that under 25K. Amongst these two, stick to Onkyo, don't go for 1312xp

wonder why you say no for denon, have you had it urself and saying this or just read something and suggesting or is it just ur gut feeling :)

I have an old Onkyo 3100 and in my bedroom 13 x 15 it sounds "great". I've watched a lot of Dobly 5.1 and DTS movies on it and enjoyed it too.

Obviously a 50 to 60K system will be better as will a 3 lac system over the 50K one. But in terms of your budget the Onkyo HTIBs are great VFM.

Music though is another story on them!
