Onkyo THX speakers

Hi ,
I bought Onkyo THX speakers 7.1 to my onkyo SR 606 AVR.
Speakers are part of the Onkyo THX 990 package . I just got the speaker set for 45k as i already have SR606 AVR..Two questions

1 ) Does the THX certified speakers need THX AVR to perform best or is it independent of it
2 ) Is the cost reasonable :sad:

Also price eems bith higher - to be honest onkyo speakers are never highly regarded or praised..
