Optoma HD141x HD / Full 3D

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and had gone through this entire thread. I am planning to buy optoma HD from amazon.de. Now they have launched new model 142X. I want to know how its different from its predecessor HD141x. Is it worth the price difference?

I am a proud owner of Optoma HD141x since the last 2 years and pretty satisfied with this projector. Done some 300 Hours mainly for movies. Breathtaking performance!

Can this project on plain wall or do I have to buy a dedicated screen. How much is the quality difference between the two. I am planning to buy screen later on when I move to my own home.

It surely can project onto a wall but the wall has to be as white and glossy in color as possible so as to have maximum reflection. If using a wall for projection, prefer watching during night so that ambient light is minimal.

I use the same projector and project on to a wall. I have tried different shades (from white to dark grey) and presently settled for dark grey with aluminum powder mixed. The result is amazing I must say. Never tried glossy white though.

@pranjandas,

Could you share more about the "glossy" part as to how much glossy. Could you specify the color with any of the shade cards (e.g., Asian Paints), so that I can try that too.

Thanks, Also can you guys suggest perfect color for wall so that I can inform my builder about it when it goes to painting. It will great if I can get the wall done directly for projecting.

Not a bad idea of getting the wall done exclusively for projecting.

However, I have not used projection on wall as I am using an Inlight branded Screen since soon after I received the Projector.

Those who project on the wall may comment. The idea is to make the surface as reflective as best quality screens.

Actually, I though over this only after recent renovation at my office. They have removed the screens and have used wall for projecting. Its somewhat matt white finish and has nice result in average room lighting, in dark it looks awesome. However I am not sure of exact color mixture and technical name for the paint.

When are you scheduled to receive it. I went through Amazon Global Priority Shipping and they are delivering it tomorrow. Since it was delayed by a day they are refunding the entire 55$ too. Awesome isn't it.

How do you make a purchase from Amazon.com? I have a normal net banking sbi account. Will I be able to make a purchase using it from amazon US? If you can provide some brief on purchasing from amazon US taht will be of great help to me.

I dont think internet banking is going to work on international site. What you need is credit card that too should have international transaction enabled. Amazon.com will bill the amount on that only. You need to have Credit Card and one india shipping address which should be KYC complaint. You can provide detail to address like PAN card number to one of the address to allow amazon to process the order.
Later I was asked by Aramex courier(which is shipping projector on behalf of amazon) to provide one of the document as KYC and address proof:
1. Adhaar card.
2. Driving License
3. Pasport
etc.
Important address in the document should match with address with Aramex preferably delivery address.

@guessmewho Cool that you got refund for shipping. Mine is slated to get delivered by Tuesday lets see how it goes. Mainly it will take time in getting through customs. I have ordered some items from Ebay Global Easy buy so there it took some time in customs.

Finally got the projector delivered yesterday. I projected it on wall and the experience was truly amazing. Was even thinking of delaying the screen purchase. Later decided to go ahead with a 106" motorized screen. Already got Chromecast. For now adjusting with existing old philips HTIB. Need to plan an upgrade later.

No. You don't have to. amazon.com takes in all import and custom duties + shipping. So nothing more to pay.
