Hi friends planning to buy AVR from Newegg,

However, the site instructs to have same address as card address.

Now I m here in India, friend in US,

How do you overcome this, as some FM have already bought from this site

Kindly advise about this query.:sos:

Use Amazon, but if it has to be Newegg, ask a friend?

I have done similar transactions. I usually ask my friend/colleague in US to pay for the item and get it shipped to his address using his credit card. I then transfer equivalent INR to one of his Indian bank account based on the current exchange rate. It has always worked win-win for both of us as we don't pay the USD-INR conversion charge fees to the bank :D.

See if you can find your receiver in any of the following sites.

https://www.audiogurus.com/ ( This was earlier audioholics site. I bought my Oppo-105 from here using my Indian international credit card through Google wallet account. Very smooth transaction)

Buy online electronics & appliances at Vann's home electronics store | Vanns.com ( I bought the replacement lamp for my Sony rear projection TV using my Indian international credit card. Again very smooth transaction).

And of-course if the deal is available in Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more, don't think twice, just get it from there :).

If you want 220v support, then check out Bombay Electronics Chicago | 220 Volt Electronics & Appliances. You might not get any good deals there though. But you get 220v and region free stuff. Never bought anything from there, but heard they are reliable.

Thanks,
John.

Dropping the idea for the present cut off is tomm. morning

Will try another route or site.

Columbus deal is off for me. He reached Americas instead of India:ohyeah:

May the lady luck shine on me for thanks giving.

It might be tricky with Paypal. I had issues with Paypal and some US online stores. Some US online stores doesn't accept Paypal payment if the billing / shipping address of you Paypal account is India. But I was lucky with some other sites like www.discogs.com when I order LPs. There, I instruct the seller that my Paypal account is in India and DO NOT send the items to my India shipping address mentioned in Paypal. I ask them to ship the records to my friend's US address. And all of them agree to that and it worked. Don't know if you can do that with Newegg. You can always call them up and check.

This is exactly what I do if I have to buy from newegg. I have saved quiet a lot by this method. If you can have someone hand carry it, you may even end up not paying duty.

This sucks. I don't know why some refuse while some accept. There is a fairly reliable authentication process by Visa/ Mastercard.

One reason I feel is with the risk taking ability of the merchant site. There are lots of fraud cases where the CC has been stolen in India and used across foreign online sites where there is no authentication as per RBI rules which apply only to Indian online sites. But still I believe the policy of Newegg is safe in one point of view as it safeguards against any unauthorized transactions and make sure that the user of the CC is actually performing the transaction.

You can use Google wallet with registered address as US address and register your card with google wallet. I did twice. Even Paypal also works.

Some time you have to fiddle with Names and addresses and send as gift. I did once with India Credit card.

Hi guys..

Im also thinking to get an AVR from US online store. But I see another issue that all US AVR are taking only video format as NTSC in the input section. It is not clear if this is valid for the HDMI connection. It will be a total bummer if later found that input video is not properly getting accepted even through HDMI from a BD player or cable box.

Any pointers would help here.

I think as long as your input is over HDMI there should not be any issue with either NTSC/PAL but I would suggest not go with a AVR from US as there will be a problem with the voltage and you need to get a step down transformer and also shipping weight will be more to carry in the check-in luggage. More over there will not be any warranty.
