Hi everyone

I've been looking for a decent set of speakers for building my HT setup, and I didn't have a great budget. I noticed this 48 hour Zero Margin sale on E-Zone Online (Big Bazaar group) and upon surfing, found the Yamaha NS 8390 tower speakers for just 8k! MRP of the same on the Yamaha India site is 14k and they are offering it (Yamaha Music Square) for 12.5k.

I also found the centre/surround package NS-P60 on sale for 5k. The MRP of these is almost 10k and Yamaha Music Square in Chennai is offering it for 6.5k.

So overall, compared to 14k+10k = 24k, I am getting the same package for 13k which I thought was unbeatable.

The fact is that I found used tower speakers for 8-11k per pair when I went looking, after I had finalised on the receiver. Considering that, I thought a brand new full 5 speaker system with floor standing units, for 23k was awesome.

The AV receiver I will be getting (used one) is a Yamaha RX-V459. I would definitely like your inputs regarding this entire setup as I am quite excited about it. Early next year, I may go in for a higher end setup with a new AVR and more expensive speakers of a different brand (if I am not very happy with the Yamaha speakers).

At the moment I use a Sony HTIB, model HT-DDW840 (100W RMS per ch) with a 100W powered subwoofer. This has been quite good till now. This has been installed at my parents' place along with the LG 42PQ70 plasma. The Sony system was purchased in April 2003.

The Yamaha setup is for our own apartment where we moved in last June.

Would I need to add a subwoofer to this setup? A new Yamaha SW215 model costs almost 10k as per my enquiry today. An alternative would be a used subwoofer which I may get for 4-5k. Maybe depending on the performance while playing movies, I will decide on a subwoofer.

For music I have my Pioneer A-339 integrated stereo amp, Sony SS-D55AV 3-way bookshelf bass reflex speakers (nice ones with a 10 inch woofer), Kenwood GE 7030 13-band graphic equaliser / spectrum analyser unit, Pioneer PD 4550 CD player, F-229 digital AM/FM tuner, and a Samsung 3 CD changer VCD player.

All the Pioneer components were purchased in 1991 in Singapore as we were there for 12 years, while the Samsung player was bought here in Chennai in 2000. I also have an LG portable DVD player connected in this setup to play MP3s.

I am very very happy and satisfied with the sound from my Pioneer system and Sony speakers, especially with the equaliser unit.

We plan to add a 50 inch plasma to our hall soon and complete it with a 2 ton split air conditioner.

Look forward to hearing from you all on the Yamaha components.

Warm regards,
Venkat

P.S. - I am unable to attach some docs and images that I have, from work. I shall maybe try to add the docs once I get home.
P.S. #2 - The Zero Margin sale on E-Zone has been extended till 18 June !!

Thanks kdl. Will do so. Eagerly awaiting the delivery of the speakers! I was told by the Future Bazaar customer care today that the tower speakers would be despatched today, while the surround/centre package would take more time. Let's see. I am eager to test out the floor standers with my Pioneer amp and music setup. I have never owned tower speakers and these would be my first set!

Look forward to a good sonic experience. Shall certainly post back here with my impressions.

Warm regards,
Venkat

the ezone - futurebazaar people are cheaters.ON 15/06/110 i ordered yamaha subwoofer 215 costing rs.10575/-which i received on 21/06/10 in damaged condition.this was not in transit damage as the broken corner pieces were missing.I had also ordered Yamaha 8390 on 17/06/10 when i saw these available for 7999/- at 43% discount.I took a printout of my my order. Next day, to my horror i found out the listing changed price toa rs.11k per speaker.irechecked my order which was now mentioning that rs. 7999 was price of one speaker. That means A PAIR WOULD COST ME RS.16000/- whereas yamaha is officially selling these at rs14000/-. As on today ezone is demanding rs11k for one speaker i.e rs 22000/- for a pair which is rs.8000/- more than YAMAHA dealers.

GUYS BEWARE OF THIS CON GROUP !

Hey Govind

Same case here. I sent an email to the EZone idiots since I had a doubt on whether the price mentioned was for 1 or 2 speakers. I had ordered thinking that 8k was for a pair of speakers. They replied saying only 1 speaker would be shipped. I made many calls to their Mumbai customer care number and spoke to different people each time and also sent a few mails requesting cancellation.

Finally the order has been cancelled and since I had ordered the NS 8390 and the NS-P60 surround package together, the surround package was cancelled 1st and the refund amount of Rs.4990/- has been credited back to my card. The amount for the tower speaker of Rs.7990 is still pending.

Yamaha till 2 days back, was offering the NS 8390 pair for 12k on a discount from the MRP of Rs.13,992. The NS-P60 package was being sold for 6k as against its revised MRP of Rs.8300.

Anyway I have now cancelled both orders and have decided never to buy anything from EZone ever again - whether online or at a physical store.

They are a real bunch of crooks.

I am now gonna get myself a used Yamaha RX-V 459 AVR and a sub-sat speaker system for 20-25k. The AVR is a used one and is costing me around 10k.

HI,

If both of you could post some documentary evidence by way of attachments such as email conversations, etc., supporting your bad experience with Ezone. Unless you put concrete things, these vendors will just ignore and would simply term this as "negative publicizing."

It will be really useful to all of us here and people who rely a lot of googling and since it is a public forum, definitely if Ezone wants to really stay in business, they will do something about this.

Cheers!
