Over the last few days i have a MARANTZ DV 8400 (universal disc player circa 2004) on loan from a friend of mine.

With the help of a few of my friends (with good hearing) I decided to compare CD playback (redbook CD audio) between this player and the CDp that I have - the MARANTZ CD-6002.

about the marantz dv8400-

Stereophile: Music In The Round #5

it sold for 6000 dirhams in 2004 (= Rs. 60,000/- , i suppose)

the Marantz cd 6002 retails for Rs. 16,000 or thereabouts AFAIK.

Well, the cd 6002 trumped the marantz Dv8400 (majority opinion).
in fact, NO DISSENTERS!

I suppose that one has to go with the latest and forget the past!

For myself, I am going to think of those computer based systems i future
(the ones that forum members are talking about):)

Thats heartening to hear being an owner of the cd6002 myself.

Edit: deleted dumb question.

Regards

Moser, is there a usb equivalent of xonar for laptops

AFAIK there is only one Xonar U1 Audio Station that runs on USB from Asus. I've personally not heard it though. In terms of specs though it is lagging behind the Asus and not really in it's range.

if you are looking for USB option only ( considering laptops are you?)
then look at outboard DACs like the PICO
they would easily trump any USB SC

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
