Pioneer DEH-80PRS

Vashista,

I got it for $350 from J&R and shipping+duty+tax. I can not give you the exact shipping and other charges since I shipped 7 other items along with this. You can try borderlinx's cost calculator to find that out. It should not be more than ~$50.

I just froogled it and found that you can buy for $290 now ;-) that's sweet.

Vashista,

I think if you get it for Rs.19,500/- you should grab it with wide open arms. You won't regret this buy. This will be your last head unit. You will not change it after listening to it.

All,

Here are some -ve points after using it for about a week.

(1) the lever below the Multi-control knob is not that good idea. Even though I'm gentle with that, I can not expect a friend/wife/son on the front seat, to be. It is prone to be used without care and it might break. I have to be extra careful with that.

(2) I need a remote handy all the time, if I have to pause the song - that's too bad. I think a play+pause button is very important to any HU (after driving for a looong distance with lot of toll booth on the way).

I'll post the close up snap of it later as asked by Kittu.

Here is a better one..

I bought htis one and have it installed a couple of days back. Instead of the initial 19.5K, I had to shell out 21K when I went to get it fixed. The seller jacked up the price considering the paucity.

Anyway, I realized that I'd have even paid more for it, considering the sound output this one offers. I am already floored with the auto tuning which is very very close to what I'd like my music to sound like. The build quality is a heavy let down but have to live with it.

One question, does it have a direct iPod connectivity? Or do I need to use an adapter like with the older version?

I know I can figure this out on the net but I'm just being lazy here :D

Alright :-)

You don't need a separate cable. You can use the existing iPod data cable which you use, to connect to PC/Mac.

80PRS comes with dual usb input slot and one (and only) usb cable which extends up to glove box. you can connect your iPod using the ipod cable that came with ipod to this usb port.
