Folx,

It will be released in couple of months (US). Save your money to get it. I have been thinking of affordable head-unit from pioneer (their P99RS is too pricey to buy) and I even wrote to them in couple of surveys. I think, Pioneer finally answers.

DEH-80PRS - NEW! - CD Receiver with 3-Way Active Crossover Network, Auto EQ, and Auto Time Alignment | Pioneer Electronics USA :licklips:

Best features for audiophile apart from affordability:

1. Auto time alignment
2. Burr-Brown 24-bit DAC
3. 16 band L&R Eq

Great usability:

1. Parrot Bluetooth built-in
2. Dual USB at the rear of the deck :clapping:

:D I am buying it .... :ohyeah:

It looks too "mass-market", just like any of the under-10K units of Pioneer. Not that looks really matter, but when we spend about 25K for a head unit, and when it is supposed to be for the discerning listener, we do expect it to look a certain way :P

If it sounds at least as good (hopefully it sounds better) as the venerable P80RS it should be good! Unfortunately, the Car audio source market has shifted nearly all the way to the stock HU -> Processor way and so there is a real shortage of good HUs nowadays. There really aren't any current models that sound as good as the Eclipse 7200 or the Pioneer P80RS or even the Alpine 9887.

This is yet to be released by spring 2012 and with kinda components listed on the web-site, I'm sure this will be better source unit.

Pricing on pioneer site is $419, but, on other pioneer dealer sites ~ $345.

:-)

Installation and Operation manuals are released @ product web-site. That means, we will be getting this HU in short time. Let's wait for review from some experts.

It is shipped (from borderlinx) and reached bangalore from USA. I just received a text message from DHL that it is on the way home :D

I will post the pictures as soon as I receive it. I hope this is the first system in India :ohyeah:

Goodbye to Kenwood KIV-701. I don't have plans to sell KIV-701. It is too buggy. I don't want anyone to buy that KIV-701 system as well.

There's a short first impression (with some unboxing and 'installed' pics) of the 80PRS over at Gearheads (Pages 7 & 8 of the thread).

@soulforged, I prefer the looks of the P80RS. The new one looks a little too mass-market. It has some pretty great specs on paper, though.

Alright! One word "AWESOME...."

The auto time alignment and EQ do wonders to your music. The user manual is a mess. ipod and my music collection on SD card play completely different now. I am using the same speakers and I can hear the details much better than RF 3Sixty2. I think the DACs are doing amazing job.

I'm using the HU in 'standard' mode, meaning one component at front door, coaxials at rear parcel tray and Sub in the trunk.

iPod can be controlled by hand as well, by clicking 'band' switch. Album switch on the HU - up and down switch - is really handy. I am using 160GB iPod classic. I have no issues at all which I used to face with Kenwood KIV-701.

BT audio does not feel like I'm listening to radio stations from iPhone. Clarity is too good. there is source level volume adjustment for each source and that really helps for iPhone BT audio.

Call clarity is too good. I have posted some pics as well..

If you have any queries, keep me posted. I'll find out and let you know.

I got it from J&R and shipped thru my borderlinx. I got it in 3 days from borderlinx to Bangalore. :-)
