Hi friends

I have an option to buy sa 9100 or sa 9500 mark ii. At present I have Harmon Larson 6550. Iam confused to choose between 9100 and 9500. I listen to vinyl and cassette primarily. Two points :

1. Is Hk 6550 is better to sa 9100 or 9500
2. 9100 and 9500 is being offered at 25000/- and 35000/- which price should I settle for. Cosmetically 9500 mark ii is good . 9100 has a knob replaced and the wooden cabinet is rewarnished .
Speakers i have sansui s711 and Boston Hs460.
Regards

Did you audition both the pioneer amps? HK 6550 is a really good amp. HK and pioneer have different sound signatures. I suggest you audition them before buying them. Having said that, Pioneer 9500 mkii and 9100 are considered to be one of the best amps made by pioneer and competed with the best of Sansui in the late 70s. I would not pay the prices that you have mentioned for them unless they are restored and recapped.
