Hi,
I recently got Boston Acoustics A26 speakers. They are rear ported speakers. I want to place them in my bedroom. Unfortunately they have to be placed in front of a window. The window is wood + glass and is covered with a thin curtain for ventilation.

I can place the speakers 1.5 feet in front of the window, but cannot move to a different location. Will this placement affect the acoustics ?

Regards,
Suresh.

Hello Suresh,

Yes Rear Ported are sensitive in placement. 1.5 Feet would be fine for the Nominal volumes but when you push the volume pot then the air would hit the Windows and glass and give nose disturbing the music.

If its possible get a wall mount stand and place then on it. Comparing to Wood and glass the wall could be less Noisy

I have BA26 and Quad 11L2. both are rear ported.
1.5' away from rear wall is good enough distance.
The manual (I don't remember which one) comes with a recommendation that certain minimum distance 9" or so needs to be maintained. Move closer for more bass reinforcement.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
