Hi All,

Been thinking of upgrading surrounds and ceiling mount speakers to support Dolby Atmos / Dts X.. In an other thread, few FM had suggested co-axial speakers works for ceiling mount..

- Looking for 2 pairs.. One pair for L & R surrounds and one pair for ceiling mount.
- Prefer speaker with compact dimension, ability to tilt & turn.
- Prefer wall & ceiling mount in the box-contents.
- Budget, Lesser the better.

My friend is returning from UK in 2 - 3 weeks time, so thought to pick something from there.. (Richer sounds & other stores)..

These are on clearance sale on richer sounds for lesser price (Monitor Audio Radius 45)

But the tweeter is facing rear side of the speaker and mid-range driver faces the user.. Don't know how good it would be..

I also checked Boston Acoustics Soundware S and XS co-axial speakers, but they are not available here.. These come with mounting brackets in the box..

If there are any alternatives that i can consider, kindly suggest..

@ elangoas,

You can also possible look at Telome Speakers.....especially the ceiling ones or else look at their Pro Series cubes which is an exact copy of Bose Jewel Cubes, you will have the liberty to angle them well and get a good surround spread.....they are decent in performance...

5.1 Pro Series

Hi elangoas

Contact MZ Audio as they deal with Boston, i am sure they will have the XS soundware cubes (large ones) or some good coaxial speakers...

Thanks..Will check with them..

Not the in-ceiling speakers.. It is a hard ceiling... So any speaker that has provisions to mount on the ceiling..

Have you seen Polk owm 3 or 5 . They can be wall as well as ceiling mountable as they came with own mount accessories.

A pair of Monitor Audio Radius 45 satellite speakers are 180 pounds in UK richersounds.. I feel it is expensive.. Am tentative on the purchase..

I can source Boston Acoustics in-ceiling speakers from Grey market for less than the cost MA radius 45, but am not sure how to mount that on hard ceiling.. Is there a workaround ? Is it easy to make a cabinet for in-ceiling speakers and then mount it on the ceiling ?

As u know u have to pay both custom and shipping charges. Moreover this is a 4 ohm speaker but 104db capable. Seems little big as it comes with 5" speaker drive.

Yup.. Right.. Cost of the speaker is less than $100.. So am guessing, duty should be 1K max..

AVR is capable of 4 Ohms.. But this is only for surrounds..

You can also try for Acoustic audio aa321B. The cost is less than Rs. 5K & reviews are very good.

Thanks.. These are full range speakers, which am already using in the form of Onida satellite speakers.. Flicked it from my old TV set.. It is ok types.. The satellites are overshadowed by the fronts..

Yes.. I have kept these safely as a back up option, but these might be bit tough to mount on hard ceiling for top middle speaker..There are no speaker mounts provided in the box..

Am tentatively considering the co-axial types with speaker mounts for at-least ceiling.. If am not able to source the co-axial, will settle for the above speakers for both surrounds and front heights..

These coaxial speakers are aval on amazon.in.. But the seller has to ship the product from US.. 7K for a pair seems reasonable.. The speaker has mount provisions and mounting accessories comes in the box..

Would this make a good choice for surrounds & ceiling mount?

Finally ordered 2 pairs of these speakers for 16K on ebay.in. The product is to be shipped from US..

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
