Please advice on a 32" LCD TV purchase.

Hello everyone..

I am brand new to this forum and chanced upon it from Google.. was astounded by the collective amount of electronic knowledge the folks here hold. and registered immediately.

Here's my query. I want to buy a 32" LCD TV for my hall. I am very new to the field of LCD, and have had the same 21" CRT TV for the last 15 years (it still works fine). I am being bombarded with various terms such as Full HD, HD ready, Dynamic Contrast Ratio, and so on. I had almost decided that Full HD was the only one worth buying, but reading the posts here has confused me again.

I will list out my requirements in a simple manner here:

Predominantly, we will be watching DTH (which is the best DTH out there for LCD compatibility???). There seem to be a few HD channels coming in, but we all know that 99% of indian channels are SD.

I have a huge collection of movies, mostly DVD-rips or MKVs (torrents off the internet). Can't wait to watch on a huge screen.

I have a big collection of supposedly-HD TV shows from the U.S(mostly downloaded off the internet). Can't wait to test their HD!!

I do plan to buy a Nintendo Wii/PS3 in the near future, and would want to make the most of them.

I do not want to go for extremely pricey LED tvs.. I am on a budget of 30-40k.

I hope that is enough information for the Gadget Gurus of this forum to suggest what I should be looking for in a TV, and their specific recommendations!

If you plan to watch lot of HD content and Play games on WII / PS3 go for a plasma.... Or any LCD with 100 or 120HZ rare to find in budget.

Two months back I bought 2 32' LCD of VU Technologies, I found it the picture quality good when compared to other sets. Specs wise i found it quite decent the price being offered.

I found it to be a real VFM. However, better check and compare with other sets. Go a shop where u can find all major brands eg Croma. Compare all the sets along with their respective specs.

I am in the same situation as you Shreedhar. Need to buy a 32" LCD soon. However, after seeing the Panasonic plasma display quality, I am now thinking about Plasma as well

hope not too late for suggestions. I'd recommend that you conduct some research online before buying.

After poring through many, many, many threads and user opinions here and everywhere, I went ahead and bought the LG 32" LD460 at Rs. 32,500 today.

Congrats,if it's not yet deleivered try if you can change it to LD640,which has a better MHZ and response time
