Polk floor standing tsx 330t

Hi to all fellow members,
I was following the forum from the long time, got inspired and bought myself yamaha rxv htr 3067 after much considerations. To me it was a leap forward from Sony's htib experience in every way.
Currently receiver is hooked up with my old htib speakers, subwoofer part is going to be fulfilled by yamaha sw012 in a day or two. This setup is connected with Sony 42 inch 700w TV, ps3 and airtel hd set top box.
Now I m planning get polk tsx 330t floor standing speakers to do justice in front. Please comment what can I expect from polk coupled with yamaha? Also I know present setup of speakers is not a justice for this receiver but I will slowly upgrade that.
Also please let me know your thoughts about yamaha ns p60 speaker system.

Hi Mate,

I am a Yamaha user myself, however will not recommend the NSP60 package. TSx330T from Polk are pretty good for the buck, I wanted to buy one myself but somehow decided to stick with my current setup.

Also please tell your recommendation in place of ns p60. Have you auditioned polk tsx 330t with yamaha? Kindly tell your experience.

Not sure if your receiver can drive the polk floorstanders to their full potential. You can consider bookshelves instead!

I am using POLK TSx 330T with Marantz PM 6004. PM 6004 delivers 45W/channel (8Ohms), I hardly turn volume beyond 10. TSx330T is a VFM product. Highs & Lows are good, careful placement is needed, else speakers will sound boomy. IMHO, mids are not that good, you may miss openness but minor tweaking with tone-controls can help you hit the sweet spot.

Power ratings of receiver are as follows

100W per Channel (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9 % THD, 1 ch driven)---

70W per Channel (6 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 0.09 % THD, 2 ch driven)---

135W per Channel (6 ohms, 1kHz, 10% THD, 1ch driven, JEITA)

Are these ratings not enough to drive polk tsx 330t?
I will be highly dissappointed if it can't.

I have found on polk site that recommended amplifier power is 20-150 watts per Channel so I think my receiver is at sweet spot in that range . ?

If any one has experience of this receiver speaker combo then please share. It's really hard for me to arrange a demo due to my remote location.

But with my X510BT (70WPC @8Ohms 2 Ch driven), the minimum I should keep is 30-40 to be audible. Something wrong with my setup or the X510BT or even my ears :sad:

Check whether you have connected speaker cable properly, maintaining right polarity.

I would like to support. Instead of Polk floorstanders, you might be able to get far better sounding bookshelf speakers. This is IMO only and didn't mean to offend any Polk users.
