Polk RTI A7 vs Mordaunt Short Aviano 8

I have been struggling to finalize a speaker between Polk RTI A7 and MS Aviano 8. Have heard both the speakers, and I felt both of them good. My usage is 50% - 50% movies/Music. Some time I am liking the bass in the RTI A7 when watching movies and I am liking Aviano 8 for Music. It seems to me this is a very though choice to make.

Have you auditioned PSB Alpha T1 and PSB Image T5/T6 towers? They produce right amount of bass with lot of details. Even focal chorus speakers are really good in bass department.

Both the RTI A7 and MS A 8 are costing me around 47 K, but PSB T5/6 are costing me 60K/80K as per my last discussion with Avinash from Hyderbaad. T6s seems out of budget for me

Both are great speakers..!! Aviano has a little edge over polks for Music, as they carry good bass and mids are good ... and Polks on the other hand are also good but relatively lack little bass over the avianos...

What amplification are you planning on using to drive either?

Well if you like the Aviano's for music - that should be the deciding factor.
Since for movies you would have a subwoofer into the mix playing the all crucial 80hz and below.
So which speaker produces better bass for movies would not make a big difference. As most of the sonic impact would emulate from the subwoofer.

Those are capable speakers in their own right.

@Blasto : I have heard MS A 6 at SBT corporate. Even I have liked them. and I when compared them with Polk RTI A5, Aviano 6 are less in size and also less in bass. but My room size is 25 x 18 where my sitting will be in the middle of the room. wondering if RTI A5 or Aviano 6 would drive the sound in the room ?

what will be your amp, to get the right amount of Bass from the avianos you need to have a capable enough AVR / stereo Amp.

What is your room size ?

The A5 & A7 are different speakers and sound different even if the differences are very subtle.
The same goes for Aviano 6 & 8.
The amplification you intend to use plays a very important role as well.

Hear all of them and pick which one appeals to you

When it comes to subwoofers, there are plenty to choose from. Don't restrict yourself to Polk or JBL Audition other brands as well Velodyne , REL etc.

SBT corporation has the worst demo setup in the world!! You cannot assess anything from there.. A6 has atleast 2x bass from what you heard in the SBT open arena..

Move th speakers into their dedicated HT room to have any reasonable demo.

While you are at it, demo the mezzos too.. Sound and Vision had a pair of mezzo floorstanders on sale when I last visited (last year). You can get it close to A8 prices.

Take my suggestion with a pinch of salt though.. I personally never buy speakers/electronics in mrp..

I never felt sound and vision's attitude comfortable. they are never customer centric. but thanks for letting me know they deal with MS speakers, I will give a try again with them.

Consider the Mezzo 6 over buying the Aviano 8.... M sure it will be worth it.. The A8 s has an extra driver, extra bass...but tat can be always supplemented by a sub for movies.. considering musicality.. Mezzo 6 wins hands over the Avianos, owing to their ATT tweeter technology

Just called sound and vision in hyderabad , they used to deal MS speakers , but now it is only on demand it seems. finding speakers for audition is very difficult task. however POLK is available at 2 places for audition and price available from 3 delaers in hyderabad.

i have just added Dali IKON 5 to my list. Just got update from AVSolution on IKON 5 - MRP 55K - 15% discount. I am still waiting for audition as they told me they dont have a showroom in hyderabad.

If u're looking for bass dali's cant give u that.. But dali's are excellent musical speakers for the money.. I am using Dali ikon2 with nad amp... Bass is less for my liking.. havent auditioned polk or mordaunt short, so cant compare with them..

Hey... I thought Dali Ikon 6 was a pretty decent FS for bass..I happen to audition is about 15 days ago @ vector.. Do you think that could be the amp or any other cause ??

Bass output is subjective and dependent on the listeners ears .
However DALI's are known to be bass shy or to put it politely They are not Bass heavy.

Fm Krishenduk has the Wharf 9.5 (FS) and they are pretty bass heavy in comparison to Dali 2 (BS) or even a Dali 6 (FS) would not have the same bass output as a Wharf 9.5.
However Dali's are far more detailed
