Hello,

I strongly suggest you to buy Polk Audio speakers. You will love the quality of the real sound with your 50k budget. The sound is crystal clear and sweet, you can listen bit by bit. Buy a 5.1 package first and add later 2 floor standing speakers.

Thx

As suggested for complete 5.1 HT and to buy step by step, I am looking for Front speaker now.
I have chosen Wharfedale and Q Acoustics brands as it is not expensive (Q Acoustics), compact and excellent as well.
I eliminated Polk RTI A5, as it is very expensive than these two, as my current budget for Front speakers is less than 20K only.
But when I check with the configuration, I see huge difference in Frequency response in between these two brands.

Q Acoustics 2020
Frequency Response: 64Hz - 22kHz
Nominal Impedance: 6 ohms
Sensitivity: 88dB
Recommended Power: 25 - 75w

Q Acoustics 2010
Frequency Response: 68Hz - 22kHz
Nominal Impedance: 6 ohms
Sensitivity: 86dB
Recommended Power: 15 - 75w

Wharfedale Diamond 9.5
FREQUENCY 30-24k @ -6dB
NOMINAL IMPEDANCE 6ohm
SENSITIVITY 88dB
POWER 30-150W

I was once told to look for front speakers which are excellent in mid and high frequencies.
So now I am confused among these. Please suggest one which is good in configuration and well suitable for Yamaha receiver.

Thanks,
Sakitram

The QA's are bookshelves while the Wharf is a FS speaker, I think it will not be a fair comparison.

I have auditioned the Wharf multiple times with different setup and they always sound nice and are a safe bet overall. They will serve as a good base as FS to start with, you can add the surrounds in the shape of BS or smaller surround speakers later on.

Happened to audition QA 2020 with Yamaha 667 and the output was quite good for both music and movies. You can't go wrong with this combo.

Wharf 9.5 has got 2 * 6.5" drivers and one is configured for bass and other for mid range.

I read somewhere that it is better to have both 6.5" for mid range and leave the low range (less than 60Hz) to Subwoofer. This will give your better midrange from FS than a single mid range driver in the FS.

It would be better to have all 5 speakers from the same series of same manufacturer to have a good surround effect in movies. Hence chose the right model in the beginning.

You may buy a Bookshelf now and use until you can buy a FS from the same series later. At that time move the BS to surround speakers position.

You may also consider Polk RTi A3 BS which will be around 20k

Will there be any problem if I choose Q Acoustics 2020 or 2010 with my AVR?
As my AVR produce 95W per channel, but these speakers capacity is just 75W.
Will it be a good choice? Or I shall look for other brand.

Thanks

i'm fresh from a good round of auditions. pls also consider boston sattelites. they're quite good for movies. but according to me, even if your music usage is 15percent, a sat will NEVER do justice to your music. instead go for towers.

a wharfedale 5 speaker pkg with obsidion towers (which come with a built in sub) should be within your budget. you'll need to add a 10inch sub to that to do justice to your 5.1 source. the towers them selves sound good and sharp and according to me are good VFM. also check out Jamo C series pkg with towers. i've also checked Polk 5.1 pkg with TSi300 and found it not equally good as wharfedale. also, all those pkgd i've auditioned with dennon 1311. i also checked Yami towers set also. you also need to have a look at them. i do not rem the models as i did not write it down, instead have asked the dealers to mail me the quotes.

and most important..... you HAVE TO AUDITION all the brands u're considering. its very true... One Man's food can be other's poision.

Somebody please tell me whether 75W speaker can be used with 95W output AVR.
Will there be any harm to anyone of these upon usage.

Please clarify doubt.

Thanks

@ Sakitram. 667 has Dynamic Power per Channel (8/6/4/2 ohms) :125/160/190/230W. so if you are going for 6 ohm speakers .. per channel power will be 160W. and wharfedales are 6 ohm only.

Hi with ur budget you can go in
Yamaha Nsp7900+Ns7900+velodyne Impact 10sub
Jamo S426HCS3 +velodyne Impact 10sub
these go well with yamaha 667

Hi did you finalize on any package.
Iam in serious confusion too.
Have been having the RX V667 for quiet sometime, no speakers yet.
Anyways my contenders are POLK and WHARFS.
Never heard of any other company and it feels like greek and latin.

So you feel POLK is not a good option at its price point.

Which floor standers are you getting for less than 20K in Wharfdale?

Please update your auditioning and final buy experience.

Hi Amar,
Well said. I am new to the forum since i recently joined. But following threads for quite long time.

Yes people are more interested in Point to Point answers and specs and experiences they can share.
Why not keep the conversation in true spirit of Knowledge sharing. For novices likeus its very hard to auditioned every thing , and hence we come to such forums so that we get a roadmap before putting our hard earned money on maybe wrong product.
I guess experts atleast should appreciate that and give transparent feedback and quick replies though.

I have yamaha avr 471 bought at @26.5 recently in Mumbai. I hope the price is correct.

Now my request to members and experts is to pl help me find best matching 5.1 spkrs for this receiver.
Note this is installed in LIving Room size of 15x10.

1]Wharfdale Obesidian 600 /jamo S606 is it overkill for this receiver?. both contains 2towers.
2] Wharfdale Dx1 is appropriate vs Mission vs Mirage nano/mx vs polk vs SONODYNE? or any other suggestions is welcome.

Frankly my budget is not more than 50k. But i am in confusion whether i shud go for 2tower+collection or 5.1 satellite stuff.? which is good in terms of voice quality, music, movies ,instrumental listening and not harsh for ears for a longterm, durability and long life.

Appreciate quick specs, models, prices and suggestions are welcomed. Please also suggest where i could get those in MUMBAI.

Thanks
Swapnil

Hi swapnil, the subject is been discussed many times regarding matching speakers to AVR.
You need to search some of them.Still for given budget, you can think Energy,Paradigm,Q acoustic too.You need to take Demo & decide finally.

Hi
Thanks for your suggestions. Is it a viable solutionto carry my avr for auditions with speakers. Do they allow . Pl help me with suggestions and best matching speakers 5.1 with avr 471 yamaha.

Also anybody who has got 471 in mumbai pl update with the price with and w/o B&W.

Tried to search many threads but did'nt get specific speakers suggestion matchng 471 yamaha. as i am new and not an audiophelic or expert it becomes very difficult to read other posts and then take a judgement. Pl help with good deals for speakeers in mumbai with URL or phone numbers.

Regds

Has anyone tried sonodyne combo? Two genie 2 sats with one centre will cost around 18-19 and two genie 3 towers would come for 21. Add a cheapo sub for now and add a better one later.
Some expert opinions on this would be appreciated.
