just an update..

running a promitheus passive pre ( on a loaner ) with the NAD C356 in power amp mode.

There are subtle differences vis a vis the NAD in integrated mode..

will write in over the weekend...

using a Mogami 2549 IC with Neutrik RCA's to connect the SACDP to the promitheus pre's.

Had a lovely experience with the Mogami's with silver Kondo Interconnects.. which i will describe in another post on the NAD C356.

I prefer good integrated stereo amplifier than cheaper pre power combination

Ofcourse pre power combo is better than integrated amplifier. But highend integrated amp built up with good components with good R&D is superior than average pre power amp. If you go for a integrated amp youu can avoid one more power cord and more rca generally highend integrated amp will be in less distortion more dynamism. headroom, no crosstalk, soundstage, stereo separation. To tell you in short as if the singer and the orchestra is playing for you only

The interesting thing is that integrated amps seem to hold their price in the used market, but pre-power don't. Strange but true.

Dear MPW, if you are ever in Bangalore I have an C375BEE virtually new sitting in its box, which I bought last year and have no use for, as i have imported my primary system. You are welcome to hear it if you feel this may be something of interest as I was planning on putting it on the For Sale section when I got around to taking photographs.

If your nad 375 is still up for sale i'd be interested. I'min blore and havebeen trying to get the ARN dealer to get one for me. Thanks Rohan

I had posed a similar q sometime back in forum but dint get much response..have pm 7004 and cd 6004 powering rx6. Like marantz sound but was wondering for next leg of upgraditis, should I add a power amp to pm 7004 (say marantz) or should I replace pm 7004 with a higher range integrated. Pm7004 is 70wpc vs rx6. 110. So wondering if better power could improve overall performance. Issue is even for higher range amps like Cyrus etc even 1 lac plus units are just 40 to 60 wpc.

May not really do anything in the near future as I completed the set up last year.

What would be good
