Hi, Pls excuse me for posting this in a wrong forum. But I could not find any other active forums like this in the Music Instruments category. Being AV enthusiast/experts if anyone has any opinion/ know the answer pls reply. Here is the details of my problem:::::

I bought a Casio Keyboard CTK 240 from Croma. (AC adapter was given free by Croma). I brought it home and switched on,played till next 1 hour and then switched off the keyboard (but the adapter plug was on) and took a break. Until then no issues!!! (I was happy about my purchase). After 30 minutes, I tried to switch ON again. It didnt respond. Whatever I do, it never turned on. I tried also with a new set of batteries. It didn't even turned on!. Next day, I returned it to Croma and exchanged with a fresh piece. Again that day, the exactly same problem with that. I went again to Croma next day. Croma refused to replace initially, & after some argument, they agreed but said they will be receiving new stock next monday. then they will call me.

Now, please tell me ---
(1) Is it a manufacturing defect, OR
(2)Is it power problem at my home?
(3)Adapter problem?
(4)I didn't switch off the adapter plug when keeping keyboard switched off. Is that a problem?
(5)IMPORTANT: How can i make sure if the same doesnt repeat yet another time... if keyboard replaced by croma or serviced by Casio? I am sick of running behind them...
PLS HELP. Thanks!

I guess that there is a problem with Keyboard.

- test your adapter with a multimeter and check the output is there as per spec. check both amps and volt

Suggestion,
Try to run the keyboard for 15mins and they keep off for 30mins while power cord is connected in power socket and adapter is powered on. And then try again, if it worked fine, take home, otherwise try to look for another model.

I have a Casio CTK-810IN, I did not face any problem. But I use it very very rarely.

Thanks, sakitram. I respect your suggestion. Planning to do that only. Still waiting for Croma, as yesterday they said that they are yet to receive the stock. (I expect them to repeat the same at least for next 3-4 days to 1 week. Typical indian experienced consumer :) ).

I gifted this kbd to my daughter for het 5th birthday(I know its too big for a kid, but i didnt like the other smaller models). I too suspect if I/she will use this keyboard. But at least some passtime for her in the vacations.

Probably for that same cost, you can find some other product that your kid can be interested, hopefully that shop does agree for that. So there would be no need to worry about day to day usage of the keyboard. And also you can consider for better keyboard for the later birthday of your kid, then she will be able to handle it carefully and safely as well.

Good luck to you.
