There are some within the budget like this one but the performance will not be great compared to the separate sub and amplifier. I heard at Evo, Cambridge layout during my car installation and I felt my JL audio components were better than the flat bed type sub-woofers. Yes you can install this under the seat and save some space. Thats the only advantage.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. I am not looking for very loud bass at the same it should complete the spectrum. The stock component speakers in the front and rear in my car is pretty decent. Btw, can you tell what JL sub you are talking about and from where can I buy it?

I am using Pioneer 3200BT as the HU and JL components in the front and JL coaxials in the rear. I was referring to the fact that my JL components were giving good bass compared to the flat bed sub-woofer which I heard during my installation. Hence I have not gone for any sub but now looking at this sub-woofer which anyway is not a flat sub but a normal sub.

I'm very out of touch with the Car Audio scene these days, but the available options are generally of the kind manniraj posted. I used to use a similar (much older) Blaupunkt model many many moons back, and it did nothing to improve the bass really. Especially it was not enough bass for the buck. I changed it in a few months and went for a proper amp + sub combo.

Getting a separate sub + amp would definitely work out to more than 10K, so depending on your usage, you might want to settle for an under-seat sub.

I've seen a very slim (8" I think) sub-in-an-enclosure from Kicker. It is mostly SPL oriented, is not under-seat sized, and will need a separate amp, but it was a fairly decent bang for the buck proposition considering the bass support.

For somewhat higher budgets, if space is at a premium, I think there are pretty good 6.5" subwoofers from HAT audio, and 8" subwoofers from other good brands. The boxes will be fairly small and will not need a lot of space. You can also have the boxes made removable with speakon connectors. If you choose something that works with a sealed box, the box can be quite small. If the amplifier is kept under the seat, you won't lose a lot of space.

Alternatively (even more expensive) there's the option of fiberglassing an enclosure into the spare wheel area in the boot. In most cars you can get away WITH the spare wheel inside. But in this case you might need a 10" sub. Also, removing the spare wheel will be a bit fiddly.

EDIT: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YZhJ7UXa0BC/p_108BASSLIN/Infinity-BassLink.html The Basslink used to be a very popular compact active sub. It looks like it is still available. More or less within your budget. Do check with a JBL Store if they have it here. There also used to be a similar option from Kenwood (called WooX I think).

I use a Blaupunkt Velocity 8" sub in a custom sealed box in the boot. Sounds pretty decent at least to my ears. I must admit though that I'm not big time into car audio.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Unfortunately I can't go ahead with any solution which will eat up boot space and it will be a big hindrance if I want to remove the spare wheel in case of an emergency.

I do drive long distance alone and with family/friends and it make sense to have a good audio set-up especially one drives alone. The stock audio system does a decent job except in the lower frequency and it does not have SD card/USB slot. Therefore I am getting new HU (Dynavin N6) in couple of days ...

Let me wait for a while to see/listen similar installations if at all possible before I decide upon.

Hi sir,

I had a demo of few flatbed sub woofers for me, IMO i felt that its not producing any low frequency more or less i felt that its not doing its job. There are few shallow subwoofers in Rockford Fosgate(ill try to get the model Number) which is so small in thickness and it doesnt eat any space in the boot, recently i have noticed in one of the pajero they had the shallow subwoofer installed which is more or less than a size of a flatbed subwoofer. If you are ok to install a small amp under the seat and you can keep the subwoofer at the boot. I would say the thickness of the subwoofer and enclosure is so simple and small.

Ill try to check with my installer and will update you.

I am using a Philips flat sub under my seat since 2 yrs for 9k.although sound is not as effective as a dedicated sub,but it does the job mildly,as the bass doesnt leak outside.

Hi sir,

Checked with my installer, he suggested the following things,

Junglee.com: Blaupunkt Blue Magic XLf 200 A 300-Watt 8-Inch Low Profile Active Subwoofer System

Congrats, please post some pictures as well.

Just ordered Dynavin N6 for my Skoda Yeti :D
Its getting very popular

Had been considering Audiosources DNS 810 and few chinese Android based HUs but finally settled for Dynavin.

Hi Manniraj,

You can see good pictures and details on their web site DYNAVIN- WORLD PREMIUM HEADUNIT - www.dynavin.in and the model which I have is Dynavin N6 made for VW/Skoda cars.

I will post some pictures later....

Thanks
Venu

The price seems to be at the higher side. I have a Pioneer 3200BT model brought from US for my i20 3 years back for 17k. It is a double din system and fits perfectly with a OEM spacer. Mine does not have a navigation system but everything else is very good. I run JL audio components in the front and coaxials in the rear. For navigation I use a Garmin brought from US for $50 or else within the city I use the "Waze" app on my iPhone.

Hi manniraj,

I know the prices are on the higher side. As mentioned earlier, it integrates everything in one unit without any glitch. Dynavin also provides periodic s/w upgrades whenever they find any bugs or based on customer feedback. The sound quality is just superb and it is becoming better and better...

Did you also ever have a problem of Dynavin HU getting rebooted/Reset during ignition?
