Lol!!!!! yes, and he consumes oxygen and gives out carbon die oxide. He is certainly not a person that makes the world better - one bit!

You very bad man Thad! You are gounded...no more 'high' frequencies for you till you become good man...

I've never heard electrostatics, but always wanted to. From what I read here, it is Manepan I'd like to try.

Heyho... the 2nd-hand pair there are more than a decent car! :

One of these lifetimes I must try and get born rich. Or at least liking hard work

:lol::lol::lol:

I would also love to hear the Martin Logans. I have heard the Magneplanar 3.6. Beautiful sound. Not lacking at all in bass dept.

PS: doesn't sound like hifipro is promoting Audio Vision. I believe he's just a happy customer.

PPS: I know one very unhappy customer of their's, too;). So YMMV.

3 pages and not a single review?

Let me begin. The referred site is awesome. I mean... awwwe... (only) some items are seen. :p End of review.

electrostatic speakers need special environment and maintanance like dry weather etc

I can see in chennai no takers for Martin Logan..:p:p However there are followers and buyers for Cadence

That is old story. Cadence which has their original ESL panels made of Aluminum foil, have shifted to Iridium coated teflon panels due the the oxidation and arcing issues that they used to face in hot and humid climates.

However, the first generation teflon panels were very susceptible to moisture and dust issues. I got one such 1st generation panels which went kaput within 1st year. I got it repaired at a cost of 32k.

Because of the stories, I used to dismantle my ESL panels after every listening session. I had acquired 30-40 packets of desiccant silica jel, four of which, I used to drop in the boxes where I used to store these panels in.

I had really struggled hard to make covers for the ESL panels. I spent about 2.5 K on making those.

Then one day, I decided to not dismantle the panels but just to wrap them in copious amount of bubble wrap after covering them with the silica get packets.

The whole thing was so tedious that about three months back, I skipped packing them up with silica gel packets. I however never forget (however high I am) to cover them up with the bubble wrap. My speakers still play music in its full glory.

PS: I had visited Mumbai sometime back where I happened to visit someone who had older Arca. He got his old ESL panels with aluminum panel with the latest Teflon panels. Guess what, he does not even cover them up. He cleans the accumulated dust once a while with a paint brush.

Hey Thad E Ginathom, you are welcome to visit me as per your convenience.

I can confirm what the Capt said. When I got my Cadence (used) it had the old electrostatic panel and needed complete rest during the monsoons. After I got it changed to the newer panels it doesn't give a damn about Mumbai's moisture laden air, even during the peak of monsoon. So no cover used either. The occasional brushing is sufficient.

I must say I have had some horrible experiences with Martin Logan speakers. They work fine for a while but pack up in a few months. its not the moisture issue but it is DUST !. they just go flat sounding and the HF disappears.the distributors kept saying that the company was trying to solve the problem.... but it never happened . a year later I had to dump the speakers. vacuum is a temporary help but if you can get rid of dust in India , they will work fine.
even the distributor dropped the line in fustration!

Ebay.com / ebay.co.uk / ebay.de

You are in germany then why are you looking for some preowned in India.. Germany is hub of high end one's..:p

As I am mentioning in the other thread, We are relocating in few months and I am checking out the possibilities of buying things in India.

This relocation is personal and I am also looking at the possibility of covering some expenses by bringing my current gear to India and sell them. I have no idea about the markets and so thought would do some research before I bring in my gear.

In that case, pls provide the details of your current gear so that you may get queries from FM's (Forum Members)

From the above I am planning to sell the first block stuff here itself (As they are quite bulky)

Rest of the above gear I am planning to India. I have not decided yet on 804D as they are too heavy too.
We are not bringing a container but only 200 to 300 Kgs (the reasons I mentioned in my other thread). So theoretically I can make it 400 kgs and bring everything but given the small appartment in Mumbai, I will not be able to use all of it. The first block (as above) needs to be sold off. Also, I might consider selling the other Classe stuff if the pricing is right.
