I am from Coimbatore. Recently I upgraded my 7.1 HD system to 4 k with Dolby atmos system by changing Epson Pj and Denon AVR. I am not satisfied with the audio calibration done by the supplier. Could anyone suggest some good professionals who can do audio calibration in Coimbatore?

Congratulations on the upgrade. Please elaborate on what you're missing. Are you looking for something specific or do you have an image of a reference system in mind? My limited experience has led me to believe that there aren't many specialized calibration specialists, mostly because customers aren't always willing to pay for their calibration services. Hence, at best, you can expect installers to simply perform a basic Audessey calibration, which is likely what your installation has already done. Someone in our friend circle used to spend days calibrating setups utilizing REW, calibrated microphones, speaker positioning, etc. for a fee of 35K. Since people were reluctant to pay, so he relocated to Houston and minting money there.

Once you explain the issues, forum members should be able to guide you in the right direction.

It's not rocket science. You can learn and do calibration yourself easily.
Even somebody do the calibration i will be up on to their taste, and u still need to make adjustments.

Currently what you are missing in your setup ?

Thanks for your reply. Previously I was using Yamaha RX 862 AVR with 7.1 setup. It is my feeling after dolby atmos upgradation I am not getting the audio separation the way in which it is supposed to be. Also could not find any separate output from Height speakers. Audessy calibration with mic supplied along with AVR was done by the supplier by placing the mic at 4 places.I tried some changes in the manual setup with crossover and speaker levels. What are the recommended crossover settings and speaker levels?

Actually in India there is no big market as such for calibration services both audio and video. Added to that you would need to purchase some software and equipments the cost of which is not very cheap. So to do a proper calibration costs a good amount. Again unfair to compare US to India as we are a very price sensitive nation and these specialised services are not cheap either.

You can try and do it yourself provided you have an calibrated mic and a some knowledge of calibration software like REW for audio.

Do we really want what is natural / calibrated or a little coloration as per taste. Let's keep that for another thread.

Audyssy sometimes makes mess for Sub woofer and surround/height speaker calibration. Manual adjustments helps these times.
For Height speakers set crossover to 80-100 , (All speaker size to be set to "small" in speaker config). And try adjusting the speaker distance manually (+1 or +2 feet) , speaker levels + 2.

Sometimes it may be depends on your speaker choice, Your height speakers might be underpowered compared to your other speakers?.
Adjusting speaker levels +2 to 4 might help sometimes. Try increasing the speaker distance as well +1 or +2 feet than the Audyssy settings.

I think, Audyssy is a broken software/program.
subwoofer : - 11db.
fronts : - 3db
surr : 2db
....

... something on this line when run almost every time over the course of 3-4 days trying to setup.
never understood what the reference point is for . It's trying to say I have a room destroyed by some wrecking ball.

my suggestion is for manual calibration.

If it would have been so easy then professionals wouldn't charge that much..
One needs to have the knowledge of how human hearing works ( Psychoacoustics) and how EQ effects the speaker performance.

End users at the max can do the auto calibration which is a hit/miss..

I agree to that if any real audio professionals available who does the complete audio calibration using advanced tools ..etc.It's difficult to find such professionals here.
As per i have seen Mostly run the Audyssy and do here and there adjustments ,they are not called real audio professionals.
Mostly even do not carry SPL meter also which would at least help to double check the speaker levels are set correctly.

More over Audyssy helps us to do closer to accurate audio calibration , it measures and sets speaker distances/ speaker levels correctly. But here and there some glitches are there , which we have to make manual adjustments.

Using Audyssy App from mobile gives more control for finetuning EQ and cross over curves for each speaker.

@visakara in addition to the above you can also use a phone spl meter app (may not be accurate as a standalone spl meter ) and measure all the speakers from your MLP and individually set all the speakers to your liking generally you match all the speakers to the same level , but i prefer to keep the center a couple of points more and the sub in range between +5 to +10 depending on the equipment's,

There are some threads here that refer to doing audio calibration by oneself using software such as REW and microphone such as UMIK which is relatively inexpensive. Further as availability of trained people is not very much therefore buying these equipment and trying out the process of audio calibration will definitely help.

I can help you do the calibration Please contact me.

@ATAS does entire HT setups from scratch, including room treatment as well as calibration, the whole Mothership actually. And from what I've heard, he does a good job of it. No affiliation, though we both are from Hyderabad and know each other over a long time.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
