Here's a glimpse of what a typical PA rig in 1970s rural India may have looked like. Note the Philips Pick-up implant on the vintage gramophone. By meddling around with the governor, one could get the gramophone to play at 45 rpm and even 331/3 rpm and with the light-weight pickup implant, one could play 45s and LPs as well.

those PA compression drivers are also interesting and so is a lot of the stuff on the table :)

innovation has always existed in the world of audio, albeit in whatever form possible.
