Query on Marantz CD6004

Hi Friends,

I'm planning to get Marantz CD 5004/6004. Now 6004 has USB input to connect ipod/usb drive which is a plus to me as I have lots of 320 kbps/lossless music in ipod. Now if someone can answer few queries for me ( I'm a newbie ) :

1. Does it play mp3 from external HDD ( let's say WD 500 GB portable HDD ) ?
2. When you play songs through ipod/ usb drive, does it bypass it's internal DAC and used CD players DAC ?

If anyone can throw some light on these !

Cd6004, supports only fat 32 table (initial firmware) hence largere disks are limited to it.
Powered external disc will work

No , iPods dac is not bypassed.

Simple effective method would be to play wav off USB input.

^^^If Ipod Dac is not bypassed, then how come I'm getting same SQ while connecting via dock connector?
