Hi Guys,

This is my first post here and need help from you experts here :)

I have recently purchased a KRK Rokit rp6 studio monitor pair and found that they do not come with any RCA cable bundled, so I need to buy a pair of good RCA interconnect. Can you guys suggest me some good brands, and my budget is around 2-3K and I would need atleast 4 meter length for my setup.

Also I stay in Hyderabad, so some pointers to shops/dealers for them will be appreciated.

you can buy mogami neglex cables online or you can contact Ashish Kesarwani @ Lakozy Delhi for Somner cables. Should be around your budget.

Thanks for mentioning Mogami Neglex, Malvai! I've been wondering about what cable to use for a 3-4M run between a Phono Preamp and my Amp, at a budget. The Mogami Neglex 2534 seems to be really good.

@ayushbajaj29, This place seems to be a good place to buy them: TecNec Cables & Connectors Mogami Neglex Quad Audio Cable RCA Male to Male -1.5 Foot - Black RCA to RCA Cables at Markertek.com
(I saw it recommended on a couple of forums). $29.50 x 2 per pair, for a 10ft run (plus shipping) sounds all right.

@malvai, did you mean these? Mogami Gold RCA Male to RCA Male Patch Cable - 6' GOLD
They seem to be based on Mogami 2964, and come in 6ft and 12ft runs.

These are more expensive: $52.95 x 2 for a 12ft pair on Amazon: Amazon.com: Mogami RCA-RCA 12 Mono RCA 12 feet: Musical Instruments
(and $42.73 x 2 for a 6ft pair). But they have very good reviews.

I couldn't find Mogami 3429.

I'll probably do a dry run on 2 placement options for my TT after it comes in and then decide on the cable length.

A 3ft RCA pair will be ideal, but the TT will sit about 2ft away, and about 2 ft below each speaker (it will sit between them) on a pedestal (will need to get one from Magma).

If I use an 8ft RCA pair, I can site the TT on a concrete shelf/hollow on the wall, about 3-4 feet away from the RHS speaker. But the RCA will be longer and will run somewhat close to a couple of power wires before it reaches the amp.

I'm tending towards the 2nd option, but I will decide once the TT comes in.

Sorry for the OT

Thanks Malvai for your recommendation.
Thanks Hydra for some pointers. I tried these link but the shipping charges are not included and after adding the price becomes costly and they don't process customs charges as well, which is the biggest pain.

I also heard good reviews about MX brand cables which easily available at local dealers here. I went to one of the shop and the price was around 1.5K for 5meter cable. MDR Electronics - MX Electronics - Home Theater Cables & Connectors - Computers & Laptop Accessories - Pro Audio / Studio Audio Cables & Connectors - Audio Video Components & Accessories - Fiber Optic Component & Accessories - Cable TV Component & Ac

Do you think MX ones will be comparable alternatives for the price or should I go for Mogami ones with my eyes closed :)

@Hydra - Do you know any other recommended sites who sells Mogami interconnects at a fair price.

Check the cable type for your Rokit. Is it unbalanced RCA or balanced XLRs ? Active Studio monitors typically use balanced connections.

And +1 to the recommendation for the Mogami Neglex. I believe this is balanced audio cable of 600 ohms characteristic impedance. Being balanced they are suited for longer runs than unbalanced cables.

MX does not even come close to Mogami.

Mogami>Somner>MX

why don't you try Ashish @ Lakozy Delhi for Somner? Its pretty cheap. Not as cheap as MX, but certainly cheaper than importing the Mogami.

However, considering that you have just one pair to be imported, I think you'll have to pay very minimal duty on the Mogami...

You can also look at Belden... Belden is available in India. Is cheap and better than MX etc... i'd place it second to Mogami... I use it in one of the components and its is pretty good! and cheap!

I ordered a 12ft pair of the Mogami Neglex 2549 cables (that I'd linked to above) yesterday night.

@ayushbajaj, the shipping was $14. I don't think it is that high, compared to what I paid for the shipping on some LPs last week, by the same mode. And the total works out much less than some of the entry level 'specialist' cables considering the length of the run.

This model has some very good user reviews, especially for use in long runs. IMHO this is worth a try :)

@hydra thanks for your support. I also did some research and you and malvai are absolutely correct about the mogami cables and I shud buy them eyes closed :)

I talked with proaudiola.com and yes the shipping charges for them was $14 which is cheap i agree, but they ship by USPS courier and hence no support for customs, and I dnt trust Indian customs as I heard they take 30-60 days for processing and sometimes charge insane amount.

I tried looking for various sites, but no luck. Only marketer and proaudiola has cheaper stocks but they don't support fedex!

I am trying to figure out alternatives now. BJC cables are what i found as second option and they ship from Fedex. Obviously the cables are quite costly. $65 for 5 meter and $25 for shipping including customs.

Have you guys heard about BJC?

BJC = Blue Jeans Cables?
Good cables. but not as good as mogami!

also, for items like cables customs never holds anything for more than 3-4 days... unless your luck is very bad....

i keep buying from ebay, trust me... i just ordered a Mogami re-badged as Jelco - din to rca phono cable for my devon tonearm....

i am sure i'll get it in 10-12 days time - tops!

Thanks Malvai.
I will try my luck this time.

Looks like you are among the experts in the audiophile world, so deviating from the thread's topic can you advice me to some good DAC's (below 14K)
and how much of a difference a dac (of this cost) may make in sound quality compare to my Laptop stereo output (it has conexant smart HD audio chipset)

@ayushbajaj29, the cables were delivered to me today morning. No customs duty was charged. And they got here quickly enough (just 10 days)!

dude, i dunno about being an expert... am just a music lover that has experimented in this terribly expensive hobby!

good DAC in a 14-20k range is the Mobile Fidelity V DAC. its very very good for the price.

Though, I personally feel that the new Asus Xonar Essence One at 22k is a supremely well built DAC with good components inside. Yet to hear the Essence one for an extensive period though...

I feel the Essence One has the capability to take on much more expensive DAC's like Benchmark etc... And those DAC's are bloody good!

Thanks Hydra, great to hear that. In which city do you stay?
I already ordered from them as well, but being feared of the customs I shipped them at my friend's home at US, who is visiting India soon.

But next time I will definately try the Indian customs :p

@Malvai Thanks for your post, but you were a bit late to reply ;)
I already purchased HRT Streamer II few days back from the research I did. Hopefully I would not be disappointed.

Will post soon as I receive them.
