I was shopping around for a receiver that is capable of driving a 4? load. The receivers of the likes of Denon 4310, Yam RXA1000, Marantz SR6004 are good options for this. But, a similar denon receiver 4311 (amazon price), is priced at a whooping 1.6 lakhs before bargaining at pro-fx.

I googled a bit, and found some references in this forum on Marantz. One gentleman being Palani, very friendly and more importantly he sounds like knows what he is talking and he seems patient. Are these the authorized dealers? There is no Marantz Indian website. What is the Warranty provided? 1 or can I expect 3 years?

FOr 4 Ohm load U can consider UMC1 + XPA5, In 1.2 lacks that's a excellent choice.
thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately this is beyond my price range.
My budget is around 60K. My hopeful choices are Denon 4310 / Denon 4310 / RXA1000 / Marantz 6005 / Marantz 7005

The marantz seems to be within reasonable range, they have good reviews & apparently they usually dont compromise on sonic performance. Earlier flaws were not having too many features. I believe this was addressed with 7005. And they look pretty too :D

Was wondering what the best price could be with these products?

Denon 3311 - Rs. 73,500.00
Maranatz 7005 - Rs. 66,500.00

PM , i ll let you know the source....

If you are bent on 60 K budget get SR6005 or Denon 2311.
My preference for Movies is Denon and for Music is Marantz.

Yamaha 667 at 45 K is also an excellent choice if you can match the speakers.

Are the prices with Bill & warranty, with taxes included?

For my speakers I require a better amp than the 667.

My choice of receiver is based on only one fact. Can they drive my speakers without issues. Hence 1911/608/708/2311 are all lacking here. The 4 I mentioned are a better match.
It just so happens that with an AVR like 7005, I also happen to get a great choice of features along with the crucial ability to drive my speakers seamlessly.

Am not sure how good the 7005 is in terms of performance for music. Anyone?

The quote was with Bill, warranty and Home delivery.

What speakers are you having any way ?

For 60 K Marantz 7005 will be hard to get but you can try.

For Music , Marantz is the best I have heard so far in my last 2 months Auditions.

Heyy kittu,

I am leaning heavily towards PSB T6. I havent bought them yet.

Will do a couple more auditions of Paradigm Monitor. Lokesh mentioned some problem in store which he is currently fixing, and that it will take a couple of days. I will also be visiting Mr Palani, Marantz dealer in Koramangala.

T6 is a super choice IMO.... But try compare it with Monitor 9's and Monitor Audio RS/RX series.

So Palani is authorized dealer for marantz now ?

PSB speakers in my opinion go with specific receivers like NAD, pair them well to see if they are to your liking. I heard PSB image 6 but was not impressed.

To my ears Marantz with JAMO C609 was my choice after auditioning the lot.
Monitor 9 and MA RX were not to my liking too.

I am not sure if he is authorized. My research here came to a dead end if an authorized dealer exists for Marantz.

This is what Singapore Marantz website lists about Indian Distributor. http://www.marantz.com/Pages/DistributorListing.aspx?Region=Asia Pacific

The monitor Audio were not available for audition. I checked out at Cox town. He had Dali Icon 7, which is also good. I am leaning for the PSB because I liked it, and it has received amazing reviews, the same with 7005. Sounds good from what i have heard about it. Am waiting for a couple more sites which do a more through analysis to do it with the 7005.

Any advice on marantz? Is it reliable to buy in India? I mean Denon/Onkyo have authorized service, ect. But Pioneer I think some guys here had problems with no authorized service (unsure if i am wrong here). Is it the same with marantz?

Were these side by side comparasions? :)
It is not easy to judge speakers if they are not compared side by side.

Speakers, can be driven with any receiver. It is a misconception that exixts where people say that a particular company receiver pairs well than another company (We are talking of only good renowned brands here). Question is, can the receiver handle the speaker load? Some receivers struggle and some others drive them with ease. So you can always find Nad AVR's which match well & some other NAD AVR's which dont match well. Similarly with Denons, Marantz, ect. instead, they should be compared with similarly priced AVR's.

Check this post...I explained this a bit more in detail

Hey,

The marantz has distributors in India. And the link you have shown in the correct one... MZ Audio of Mumbai they are distributing it... We are procuring the marantz from them... and regarding the service ... there is only 01 service centre and that is in mumbai... Also the warranty is 01 Year on the same....

Thanx
Hi pranab,

No disrespect meant to you. I had posted this before I read your PM :)

Pair Any speakers with Yamaha and Onkyo and then with Denon and Marantz you will know about pairing.

Yamaha and Onkyo are in same league with Denon and Marantz but have a different sound signature.

I paired Dali IKON6 with Denon 1911 and then with Marantz 5005, the difference was obvious.

the comparison was not side by side but clips and songs were same in most of comparisons.

What I would suggest is that you buy speakers first and then an AVR after DEMO.

MSRP for 1911 is $600.
MSRP for 5005 is $800.
At this lower price range, this $200 *can give* significant comparitive difference in performance. This depends on what the manufacturer has decided to compromise on. *Generally* in this price range, manufacturers are not targeting performance, but rather the Mass Market which is very feature sensitive. So they pack more features, and compromise on a more crucial aspect. The current delivery capability of the amp to start with.
At Lower prices one should take more care in choosing, as the AVR's need to be picked even more carefully.

Also AVR's tend to get *kinda outdated* in 3-5 years in terms of features.

I totally agree with you here. Always...always buy speakers first! This is advice I give to everyone I come across myself. Buying 2 is enough to start with, the fronts. Later one can buy surrounds, center, sub, ect.

I meant for 200 Dollars and Approx 10 K difference in Price I liked 1911 better than Marantz.

Any way I am taking the UMC with XPA route so its pre - pro all the way now.

This is well...interesting. Need to dissect & check out what is in the box here.

I think This is actually a better route. B'cos AVR's tend to get outdated very soon. On top of this, AVR's cant match the performance here.

at 45.5 K UMC1 comes to 9 k a year , Not bad :-)

XPA amps will never get outdated, can work for Surrounds if any better amps come in Future for Fronts but I doubt that 300 Watts per channel wont be enough.
