We had a couple of power cuts and when i turned on the receiver the display kept switching off after few seconds. I switched off & switched on a few times but it continued behaving same way. I reset the microprocessor & things worked.

What is the problem here? Should I be worried?

EDITED:
Power cuts occurred while playing.

I don't see how it could have happened otherwise. If this happens on a regular basis, and your AVR misbehaves, you may need to get an UPS to allow the AVR to be shut down properly during a power cut.

The other thing to remember is when a power cut happens, and you power the AVR on, it may not follow the regular power-on procedure through a remote. What I have usually done is to power on the system using the power switch on the AVR, and then power-off and power-on using the remote.

Cheers

Thanks. It looks like I will need a UPS after all. I did some searching around after you mentioned this.

Anyone for a brand new APC 1.2KV stabilizer (used for 10Hrs Max)..with Bill n Warranty? :(

due to sudden power surge ( spike for a moment ) your receiver goes into protection mode. This is expected behavior. You need to reset your receiver when you think that power is normal.
Better to have better stabilizer. Get your APC verified.
