Record breaking: The 41-megapixel 'Nokia 808 PureView'

Nokia should rather focus on developing smart phones smarter than investing money in these kinda useless innovations(?). This phone is not going to boost up their market position either.

41MP and all will not be of any use, unless we are not bothered to print the mobile cam pics on a big roadside flex board!

Its not just about mega pixal what nokia is claiming.

In terms of mobile imaging, the Nokia 808 is a revolutionary device. Not only is it capable of taking images of up to 38MP, but it can also make use of a technology called oversampling, which means that out of several pixels of information it captures, it commits to memory a single resulting pixel, which hopefully, is picture perfect.

There are three outright advantages to this oversampling thing: amazing image quality, lossless zoom, and superior low light performance.

You are very true it's really amazing to have 41 megapixel camera on mobile phones...let us wait and see how it works when it comes to the market....

Yes its truly amazing. The 41 megapixel camera sensor clicks very good images. The phone also has full 1080 p video recording, 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, Nokia Rich Recording technology and Imaging GPU capable of handling 1 million pixels/second.

Since Nokia is getting beaten everywhere, they needed a '41MP' phone to make news. It is purely a marketing initiative to force people to talk about Nokia at a time when Samsung, Apple are making all the news. I still think the best phone Nokia made was 1100 ! (no pun intended)

i have a bad coffee machine but you can peel off banana with it ..please buy it.

Thing is users dont want these too aggressive marketing addons.
I painful to operate device with a good camera will never sale .

give us a wow os/responsive /customizable mobile that really doubles as tab.

unlike S3 it should have 4000mAh battery and must run 8hours on continuous usage .
if 41Mp were possible and really better than 15MP cannon would have added it in few cameras

lastly look and feel , how diff it looks from a 5000Rs Nokia?

It's a gimmick by Nokia to extract money from dumb asses who want to buy latest phone as soon as it is released. Any cheap cyber shot for 5k will crush this so called 41mp camera. Its useless and very funny. Even funnier it will sell like hot cakes. Mps only make a difference if one needs huge prints of a photograph. Any pro-photographer will laugh at this gimmick. Someone rightly said, Canon, Nikon, others would've added this so called feature years ago lul.

Are you saying oversampling from 41Mb sensor to get a clean 5 Mb image has no merit ?
