Hello,

I was playing the DVD on a blu-ray player which was hooked through the Denon AVR X-2000. The volume being played was on 50% which was not loud at all. All of a sudden the AVR went off, with the red pilot light blinking. I put off the AVR through the remote and again re-started it, and the AVR came up, and functioned as nothing wrong happened.

Was it clipping ? The speaker-wire shreds touching each other terminals theory won't hold good, because I did not try to arrange the speaker-wires or any thing like that. Neither the AVR was hot. I simply started, and the blinking red light went away, and it played like before. Any guesses what might have happened.

Generally the red light blinks when the protection mode kicks in. It could be due to speaker short/using low speaker impedance at high volume/amp failure (rapid blinking) or overheat (slow blinking).
I am no expert, just sharing the stuff I recently learned when my AVR had a slightly different problem. You can find detailed troubleshooting in the online manual for your model.
