I am looking for 12V, 2amp regulated power supply for V-DAC. Music fidelity V-PSU is too costly. is there any alternative to get it locally(bangalore)?

Thanks

Here's a battery based power supply, which is just what you need -

QwikiCharger - Qwiki

EDIT: After posting, I realized that this is for a 100V suppy. However. you
can use it to get an idea of the circuit, using a battery charger IC, UC3906.

Normal car battery chargers should do the job for a 12V SLA.
Most of the cheap ones are so-called float chargers.
Ideally, you need a 2 stage charger, which first charges in constant
current mode, and then switches to constant voltage.

The local electronics shops here have a SLA charger board for about
Rs 200 or so. I believe it is used in UPS/inverter assemblies. No further
details, as I didn't take a better look at it.

I recently got music fidelity V-dac from US. but unable to use it due to some confusion. it came along with 110V to 12V AC-DC adapter. it is written on the adpater 'class 2 power supply'. what does this 'class 2 mean? i have got one old 220C AC to 110V AC converter which is meant for 'power units other than class2' . can I use this non class2 AC converter here? I plan to get 12V DC regulated power supply unit in future. but what is the option as of now to use V-dac adapter.

Thanks
Sanjeev
