Hello everyone!

i have a Tata Sky+ HD connection at home (Thane). its validity was going to expire in this month, and i had been wanting to remove it to migrate to some other DTH service, but without my knowledge, my father instead recently got it recharged for another year!
is there anyway i could get it removed and get some amount too back?

thanks!

I tried to do same and before even getting connection p..ed of with the customer care of videocon DTH. You can find that post somewhere in this forum.

Tatasky+ HD is better than the rest

i also like tata sky, and would've liked to remain with it, but the dearth of (HD) channels and 1 channel in particular is making me think seriously to migrate.

No you can't get the money back. If you change the DTH you will also loose the money you put in to buy the TataSky+ HD STB. Thats another 6k.
Its better to continue with it. All operators are almost same, a few points here and there. And TataSky is one of the good ones in the lot.

Still if you can't live with it, better sell it to recover the money.

OT any problems you facing with TataSky ?

If you go back to TataSky and tell them that you are moving out of the country and hence need to terminate the connection, they may oblige.

I have a question which is related...but different please: hope I am not distracting this thread but I was confused with the reply i got from the Tata Sky rep that I spoke to in one of the retail outlets here in Bangalore:

My sister has a TS HD recorder box in one room and a SD box in another. I have an HD box and would like to upgrade to a HD recorder. I thought of giving my HD box to my sister to replace her SD box. But they said that I would have to also move my dish there - so she would end up with TWO TS dishes because each box had a dedicated account? This sounds wierd to me....any idea if this is correct please?
I would of course have to upgrade my HD to a HD recorder box and forgo the credit that they offer me for my old box.
Thanks

The Tatasky STB (it's serial number), the viewing card number and the consumer id/address are all tied to each other.

You can use the existing dish for connecting the HD box. Obviously you should use the same smart card and box. My brother has Tatasky HD recorder and he sometimes will bring it to my home and connect to a spare dish we have.

If I understand this right....your brother brings over the HD recorder and views TS TV channels via that box (rather than just playing the recorded programmes)? Or do you need a dish even to watch recorded programmes on another TV. However, channel viewing is not possible as mentioned earlier since the box and dish are dedicated.

Dish antenna is nothing special. Any dish that is correctly aligned to the TS satellite will work. The STB and VC are interconnected. I think that it is possible to transfer the ownership of the connection to someone else.

The dish and LNB are just for receiving the signals. Any Ku band dish and LNB can be used for this. It is the box and the VC card that determine user authentication. So you can take your box with the card inserted and use it in any dish which is tuned to receive Tatasky signal.
