Review on Zero 09 Dac

Im looking to get a budget DAC. One of the DAC's i went through ebay.com was Zero 09 DAC's with OPA 627 costing less than 6K exc. shipping. It is 24bit/192Khz. The net reviews are good. Iam looking for a forward sounding DAC which can match my Norge 2060 + Wharf 9.2. Planning to use for stereo using DVD, PC. Any opinions on this particular DAC welcome.

Have heard the Zero once for 10 minutes. Couldn't tolerate it for more than that. YMMV.

Any perticular reason?

It was extremely bright and digital sounding. No warmth, no sound stage, no nothing. This was all stock with whatever default opamps it comes with. I'd prefer a creative sound card to this if you know what I mean.

After a long period of dilemma of DAC vs. CDP vs. A good DVDp, i think in my case i have settled for DVDp (CA DV99). This i have decided after some auditioning in a local store under normal room environment. I find DV99 to be musical even than its CA CDP. This also comes after auditioning two marantz CDPs. I think DV99 is a worth-while investment.
