I have Sony Shake 6D :

Problem is that the AV Receiver is busted and can't be repaired by Sony, now I wanted to build a custom home theater setup 5.2 or 7.2
But I am not sure which AV receiver are their in the market which will work with those speakers as they are very high power rated.
My plan is to use these existing speaker as front left/right channel and it has 2 sub-woofer already in the unit also.
Please suggest a suitable AV receiver under $1000 which can power these speakers.
Also please let me know what center and rear channel speaker would be fine with those Sony 6D speakers under $800 for all the remaining speakers
Specs of 6D speakers :
Hi
The latest AVRs in the market are designed to handle 4 ohms speakers....some users have complained of the AVRs heating too fast due to poor ventilation etc etc.
If you check some You Tube Videos, you will find that when you connect two speakers of 4 ohms each in series, the result will be 8 ohms...there are many calculators available to assist you....
I do understand these are great speakers and you have got already used to them and hence want them used to full potential. You need to understand that if there are different connectors for speakers, this means that there were different amps built in the main unit to handle the tweeters, the woofers and the subwoofer speakers specifically and thats how you were able to get awesome sound and punch....I seen a couple of YouTube videos and is impressed.
DIY amps will be able to handle such speakers but you will need to get a good AVR which has enough power to handle such loads.
Coming to your speakers.....the Tweeters and Mids are 4 ohms and the Woofers are 4 ohms.....the Lighter colored wire is always RED (positive) and Darker wire is Negative. Please check the owners manual to be sure.....
From the photo....looking at the speaker connectors...it seems that only the Horn tweeters form part of the connector.
The other connector has 4 wires which indicate that the woofer and subwoofer are on the same connector.
Please note that with a new AVR....the LED lights will not work......
Onkyo like other AVRs is known to handle 4 ohms speakers....many other brands have also introduced this capability.
Now if you connect all these wires per speaker cabinet into series, you will get some impedance which then will help you decide the AVR....please note that in order to make these speakers work as a Floorstanding or Tower speaker, each driver...tweeter, woofer and subwoofer need to be connected appropriately. The end product should be only one wire with positive and negative going to the AVR.....
The other way out is to get a nice stereo amp with high current to handle these speakers and the 4 ohms load.....
You may also need to research DNM Audio or Telome Audio who make Multi Zone stereo amps......which support 4 - 8 ohms speakers...here then you can connect the tweeters the woofers and even the subwoofers separately as L + R and control the volume of each.....the only issue is the amps are all analog
Bottomline before connecting ....if you can open the speaker cabinet carefully, you will be in a much more better position to understand the wiring inside for each of the drivers and also check if there is really a crossover inside......
