Right now I am listening to ...

Sachi,

Pick up a not too expensive turntable and get those albums on vinyl. Nada Surf - Lucky is up next actually also on vinyl.

The Nada Surf CDs aren't even 25% of what they sound like on Vinyl...YOU WILL BE IN HEAVEN and won't wanna come back ;)

Actually, I have a Rega P2 with a Super Elyss Cartridge if you wanna buy it from me. That table is excellent to get your feet wet. Even have an extra phono stage....Musical Surroundings Phonomena. Just message me if these things interest you and we can work something out.

But the fact remains.....get those albums on Vinyl!!

I have the whole Explosions in the Sky discography on CDs. I'm going to be picking up the vinyl from a local Indie store. Probably will go tonight or tomorrow...

That is soo cool.
I am totally with you, the CDs are just pathetic in comparison to what I heard live. The recording is just compressed like mad on the Nada surf albums.
I have thought long and hard about going Vinyl, but I am just not ready for it yet, though came very close to buying an Empire 498. However, when i do make the transition will surely hit you up for advice, but thanks for the offer nonetheless :)
Explosions in the sky is such a great band eh? :)

For now listening to,
Heater Nova - Siren

Don't fight the vinyl transition chief....embrace it! :) Get back to me if you need any advice...I would love to share whatever little I know about the format.

Explosions in the sky absolutely rock. Did you see that Gujrati guitarist? That kid is definitely going places!

Called the store and put a hold on 2 albums. They are ordering me the third one and I'll go pick them up once they call me back in a few days.

I LOVED APP in my college days. I had ALL his discs on Cassette. Today though I am more in persuit of technically good recordings. I had expected superb recordings from Alan Parsons, since he was the recording engineer for many Pink Floyd albums. sadly, APP CDs just dont sound right on my system. I LOVE his music &words though.. Superb

Picked up a BUNCH of vinyl tonight while I was in Long Beach with my wife. She's so patient with me!

Anyhow here is what I got:

Neil Young - SUGAR MOUNTAIN: LIVE AT CANTERBURY HOUSE 200g 2LP

Now to spin them for a while and then go to bed. Putting on Neil Young first.
